The Psalmist says in this regard: "Against you, you alone have I sinned, what is evil in your eyes, I did".
(Ps 50, 6).

The concept of sin is linked to human dignity because dignity requires that the person live in the truth. But the truth about man is that he does evil because he is a sinner. When you delete the concept of sin, man is impoverished in a fundamental experience of his humanity.
Jesus is compassionate, yet tough and he calls good and evil by name bluntly or compromise, but it is also always ready to forgive. Everything he does, his every word attest to his faith in man, who can not renew itself without agreed upon, in this way he becomes a free man.

In man's sin against God, there are different levels of severity. Mortal sin is the act by which man is completely away from the gift of God's mercy to address love only himself. But even the so-called sin "venial" is not without consequences, because it is still dangerous from the spiritual standpoint as there are sins unimportant. The gravity of sin does not compare to the customs tolerated in our society or our guilt, but more or less acute rejection of the infinite love of God, every sin has its importance, since it prevents us to surrender totally to 'Love of God.

Sometimes our conduct is also subject to "imperfections" to those feelings or acts that are not in harmony with God's love every detail has its importance, as it may hinder our freedom to abandon ourselves to the mercy of God, not all the faults are on the same level in terms of severity, but all sins, even slightly, it must be taken seriously. God calls us to be "holy and blameless before him in love" (Ephesians 1:4). This call to holiness requires us to renounce "all" sin and "every" imperfection voluntary, although we tend to see only the little things devoid of any seriousness.

Sin has its roots in the human heart, says the apostle Matthew: "from the heart, in fact, come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, thefts, false witness, blasphemies (Matthew 15 19). Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, discord, jealousy, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like that." (Gal 5, 19-21). In sin there is the germ which fumes meat, violence or other desires, which lead to unhappiness.

Some say that sin is a historical artifact to be placed in the unenlightened past, but now, in time of progress, we can satisfy every lust freely without regard to morality.

The Ten Commandments are not strict prohibitions contained in a God who wants to impose its law, but a warning on that leads away from Him is true that looking at the Ten Commandments, we have the opportunity to avoid the abuse, deception, exploitation, the gossip with a beneficial effect that would spread also on society.

In this regard, the words of the Gospel are very clear: while he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life Jesus said, "You know the commandments: Thou shalt not kill, Do not commit adultery, steal, bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother." (Mk 10: 17-19).

The vanity, sensuality, attachment to convenience as insensitivity to the delights lead first and then the pride, avarice, anger, lust, sloth, sloth, which, if repeated in habitual action, generate vices, evil inclinations and slavery. Each disorder has therefore originated from a passion, combined with the lust, dampens the light of the intellect.

How severe ridicule, abuse, stealing, because it leads the next one which reflects the level of suffering of our wickedness. Serious deficiencies are carnal, spiritual, thought, expression and omission that dark, disturbing, disconcerting and weaken the soul. On all there is pride, which removes light to the soul, corrupts the trial and binds to the excessive money, greed, love is also the chains that surround us and that we find delight in torturing thorns.

Another sin to consider is the scandal that may lead others to commit a mortal sin, with incalculable harm to their souls. In that regard should be fixed in the mind the words of the Gospel: "Woe to the man through whom they come! Would be better for him to have his neck a millstone, and to be drowned in the depths of the sea". (Cf. Mt 18, 6-7).

There are those who compile lists or draw up charts for the order, the importance and the weight of sins, a meritorious work, which nevertheless remains confined in the specialists or those who want to make a spiritual journey based on compliance with strict commandment. However, it is necessary to repeat that sin is essentially an insult to love and charity, it is written, in fact: love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these (Mark 12, 31).

To prevent the passions to turn off the light of faith, we can interrogate the knowledge that will make us aware of our shortcomings, because the blameless act depends solely on us. Street chess for the vanity and lies, with the understanding vigilant about what is good or bad. Jesus encourages us to perfection: "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect". (Mt 5, 48), but to acquire the virtues and flaws should get the win on the spiritual ascent.

For this we should not listen to those men who present themselves as guarantors of the mercy of God, their only purpose is to make us abandon the road. Do not put off till tomorrow what must be done in the present. We like our friend the fear of God is sin less. We know that sin away from love, from the good and the virtues, so if we want to restore the union with God, we must implement a sincere repentance for the evil.
