The Word

Although God is invisible and not perceptible through the human senses, the human being has the possibility of hearing His voice and receiving His word through:

- Sacred Scriptures: Religious texts that contain divine teachings and revelations.
- Inner Reflections: Moments of introspection in which you feel inspired or guided by an inner voice.

Faith and Listening

Faith is born from listening, which represents the beginning of a daily journey where the experience of the Word is lived. This possesses an intrinsic force, salvific and capable of healing the human being. The Word is like a seed: it produces different fruits depending on the quality of the soil in which it is planted. For this reason, it is essential how we listen to it, in order to be able to welcome it, assimilate it and internalize it, until it becomes our inspirational guide. It is through this process that Jesus grows within us.

The Bible as the Inspired Word

The first step is to read; The Bible is an inspired Word not only because it was written in the past under the influence of the Holy Spirit, but also because today it is revealed as a text capable of communicating and revealing hidden truths. Choosing to read the Bible means choosing life.

La Lectio Divina

Lectio divina is a reflective, profound and personal reading of Sacred Scripture, conducted in a spirit of prayer and faith, in order to assimilate the Word of God. It is a reading that directly involves the heart in the encounter with the Lord; therefore, it cannot be superficial, but must be careful and aimed at faithfully interpreting the content without adapting it to our personal tastes. The goal is to discover the true spiritual meaning of Scripture and to draw nourishment for the soul from it.

A Training Itinerary

Lectio divina must also be considered as a path of Christian and existential formation. It leads into the depths of the Lord and inevitably involves those who approach the living Word. In summary, lectio divina aims to establish a personal relationship with the Word of God; through prayer, the Spirit of the Lord reveals to us the true meaning of the scriptures.

The Dialogue between Creator and Creature

Sacred Scripture must be perceived as a letter from God to humanity, where a dialogue between Creator and creature takes place. To understand its message, it is necessary to listen with the heart, so as to discern our path. Lectio divina represents a path towards a profound experience of faith, listening and conversion, in a constant dynamism towards contemplation. Only in this way can we grasp the illuminations of the Word that is addressed to each one of us, for our lives, for society and for our salvation.

The Depth of God's Word

The Word of God is a precious treasure that should not be read as a simple newspaper, but with the heart. It is love and the only key to understanding it is love, which is able to lift the veils and reveal the profound meaning of the Holy Scriptures. The latter possess a depth that infinitely exceeds our intelligence; their essence resides in God, who, from that depth, speaks of us and guides us in the discovery of the wonderful gifts he has bestowed on us.

Listening to the Word

If, while reading or listening, the Word of God does not touch us and slips away like water, it is a sign that we must fill a certain ignorance within ourselves. To truly savor the Word, it is essential to educate oneself to listen and create an inner silence that allows one to perceive the divine whisper, which manifests itself through conscience and intelligence. God's voice may be as powerful as thunder, but it does not reach those who are hasty or superficial; instead, it is fruitful for the humble and for those who are open to receiving all enlightenment and to grasping the movements of the heart. In the silence of listening, the Light illuminates our path, dispelling doubts and awakening intelligence. This process stimulates a critical sense that allows us to examine ourselves in the light of God, guiding our steps towards a deep communion with Him through faith and love.

Recognizing Our Talents

It is essential to free ourselves from false humility in order to recognize the talents and gifts that God has given us. Only in this way can we activate authentic gratitude, committing ourselves to the gift of ourselves and inflaming our hearts with divine love. Intelligence becomes sterile if it is not enlightened by love; it remains limited to itself and cannot satisfy the needs of the soul or find a safe direction in life..

The Importance of the Word

For this reason, we must draw abundantly from God's Word, the source of wisdom and everlasting life. It is an inexhaustible source that no one can dry up. It is crucial to recognize our unworthiness before God's greatness in order to receive His forgiveness through His Word. This Word has the power to purify all misery and, if meditated on carefully, can mold us into new and mature creatures. If the Word leaves no trace in our hearts, it means that we are still on the way to true conversion. We must call upon the Holy Spirit to kindle the fire of His love in our will, prompting us to seek God ardently. Love transcends any rational scheme and is what our heart desires: to ask God for the true capacity to love..

Prayer as Dialogue

When we pray, we are the ones who speak with God; when we read, it is God who speaks to us. We insistently ask God to enlighten the eyes of our intelligence and our soul so that we can perceive the strength hidden in His words. We require the gift of listening to Him with renewed inner ears and singing His glory with the tongue of the Holy Spirit. In this way, the Word read will be able to sprout in us like a source of living water, transforming itself into a song of prayer. This Word nourishes our prayer itself, communicating to us the active power of the Risen Christ. In the end, it will no longer be just a voice or an image, but a fiery beating of the heart and a rapture of the soul. .
