D. Kucinich manda un messaggio basilare sull’Afganistan, la perdita di petrolio nel Golfo del Mexico e l’influenza del denaro societario sulle elezioni federali.

Ciao, da Dennis.

Come sai, conduco lo sforzo di cercare di fermare la nostra nazione dal continuare il suo tragico errore in Afganistan.

Raduniamoci, America, per dire che è ora di finire la guerra una volta per tutte: proporre una data e sostenere la fine della guerra nel 2011, 2012.

Possiamo andare lentamente verso la fine di questa guerra per un altro decennio. Questo non è accettabile.

Non è accettabile a causa della perdita delle vite delle nostre truppe, della perdita delle vite di civili innocenti, del governo corrotto dell’Afganistan, perché non c’è modo di vincere e di stabilire una democrazia laggiù, perché non possiamo sostenere la guerra, perché abbiamo a casa delle cose che vanno curate: creare lavoro, salvare le case, aiutare a ricostruire le nostre città.

Non possiamo più permetterci questa guerra in nessun modo, aspetto o forma.

Perciò continuerò i miei sforzi non solo per creare un dibattito, ma anche per costruire i voti per far si che quando il finanziamento della guerra sarà ridiscusso, noi raccoglieremo un voto anche più forte per uscire dall’Afganistan.

Chiedo il vostro supporto continuato a questo sforzo, non solo il vostro sostegno finanziario – ma il vostro sostegno morale.

Ti chiedo di parlare ai tuoi amici e vicini, di diffondere la parola che ci serve il venir via dall’Afganistan.

Noi dobbiamo portare una nuova direzione nella nostra posizione internazionale.

Noi dobbiamo finire la Guerra in Iraq.

Sappiamo che la guerra era basata sulle bugie.

Ora gli americani devono continuare a concentrarsi su cosa accade in Afganistan – il livello di corruzione che cresce è dannoso non solo per la credibilità della nostra nazione, ma danneggia pure ogni speranza che potremmo avere di raggiungere la pace nel mondo.

Chiaramente un nuovo approccio è necessario.

Mentre il petrolio esce ancora dal fondale del Golfo del Messico, io ho portato nel dibattito alla House un emendamento che limiterebbe la capacità delle imprese petrolifere, che trivellano nella piattaforma continentale esterna, di essere capaci influenzare le elezioni federali.

Siamo consapevoli che il caso alla U.S. Supreme Court (Citizens United) è stato devastante per la nostra capacità di avere un controllo reale sul nostro processo politico. Sappiamo che il caso Buckley v. Valeo – da la parola a quelli che hanno denaro, ma se voi non avete denaro non avete libertà di parola – avrà un impatto severo sul processo elettorale.

Ora questo significa, più che mai, che la vostra partecipazione al processo politico, senza avvilirsi, deve essere sentita.

Le voci di milioni di individui Americani, agendo sull’affare del loro governo, possono aver più peso della tremenda influenza delle società attraverso una voce collettiva.

Dobbiamo introdurre una nuova direzione nei finanziamenti elettorali.

Infine, va trasformata la catastrofe del Golfo del Messico in un’opportunità per creare una nuova direzione nelle nostre politiche energetiche.

Un’opportunità di unire l’America in una grande causa per ordinare, non solo il Golfo, ma anche la nostra nazione.

Non solo ordinare le sue politiche ma anche l’ambiente dell’America.

Molto presto tu ascolterai di più da me su questo sforzo. Ma per ora, voglio dire grazie a te per il tuo aiuto.

Per favore contribuisci generosamente mentre lottiamo per continuare a servire la gente degli Stati Uniti d’America e il 10° Distretto Congressuale dell’Ohio al Congresso USA.

Dennis Kucinich: Afghanistan, the Environment and Corporate Control of the Political Process

Dear supporter:

Dennis Kucinich sends an important message concerning Afghanistan, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and the influence of corporate money on federal elections.

Hi, Dennis here.

As you know, I've been leading the effort to try to stop our country from continuing its tragic mistake in Afghanistan.

We need to rally, America, to say it's time to end the war once and for all: To set a date and to stick by it to end the war and it can't be in 2011, 2012.

We can slow-walk the end of this war for another decade. That's not acceptable.

It's not acceptable because of the loss of lives of our troops, because of the loss of lives of innocent civilians, because of the corrupt government of Afghanistan, because there is no way to win and establish a democracy in Afghanistan, because we can't afford the war, because we have things at home that need to be taken care of: to create jobs, to save homes, to help rebuild our cities.

We cannot continue to afford this war in any way, shape or form.

And so, I'm going to continue my efforts to not only create a debate, but also to build the votes so that when the war appropriation comes up again, we will have garnered an even stronger vote to get out of Afghanistan.

I'm asking for your continued support in this effort, not just your financial support - but your moral support.

I'm asking you to talk to your friends and neighbors, to spread the word that we need to get out of Afghanistan.

We must take a new direction in our international position.

We have to end the War in Iraq.

We know that the war was based on lies.

Americans now need to continue to focus on what's occurring in Afghanistan - the level of corruption that keeps rising is damaging not only our nation's credibility, but also damaging any hopes that we might have to achieve peace in the world.

Clearly, a new approach is called for.

As the oil continues to rise up from the seabed in the Gulf of Mexico, I brought to the floor of the House an amendment that would limit the ability of oil companies, who drill in the outer continental shelf, to be able to try to influence federal elections.

We are aware that the U.S. Supreme Court case (Citizens United) has been devastating to our ability to have real control over our political process. We know that the Buckley v. Valeo case - give speech to those that have money, but if you don't have money you don't have free speech - will have a severe impact on the election process.

This means now, more than ever, your participation in the political process, no matter how humble, needs to be felt.

The voices of millions of individual Americans, acting out of concern for their government, can through a collective voice outweigh the tremendous influence of corporations.

We must take a new direction with respect to campaign financing.

Finally, we need to let the Gulf of Mexico catastrophe be an opportunity to create a new direction with our energy policies.

An opportunity to unite America in a grand cause to clean up, not just the Gulf, but to clean up our nation.

To clean up not only its politics but to clean up America's environment.

You'll be hearing more from me very soon about this endeavor. But, for now, I want to say thank you for your help.
