STORIES (COMPUTER 2)

1993. Rome, Rispoli Library, with primary schools

The idea was to inventi tales from video games and from the clips and the backgrounds we can find on our computer. If children have got something about the Romans, the Middle Age, the dinosaurs, then they go enthusiastic  to look up the books in the library. How interesting they are, the books!

We collect characters and scenes, write our stories, put them into a book, setting up the pages, choosing the fonts. As we do not have a colour printer, the final product, with the drawings of the children, will be half computer and half hand made, printed in a few, very precious copies with a Xerox machine.

Amiga WB

1994, Teti (Nuoro), elementary school and library

During a week, only a couple of meeting with each of the five classes, to found out together what we can do, easily and immediately, with a computer. The machine is an Amiga 1200 (brought in the hand luggage on the plane and connected to the TV set). A good feature of its - in times when pc’s were limping along among MS Dos and Win 3.1 - is the possibility of seeing directly on the desktop the content of the directories (click above to enlarge the Amiga Workbench with windows and drawers)

We copy and paste clips on the screen, make them with strange colours, writing some text. And above all we are working all together, watching, imagining.

The text says: “I work in this building and my name is Willy. I am a spy and I am very rich!

The castle is a screen shot from a video game set in the middle age. The knight is from the same game, but changed as a ghost. He’s probably going to charge the man on the cross motorbike!
