SAN MARINO 1998

Il computer inventafavole (the tale inventing computer)

During the fair Ventimila libri sotto il libro (20,000 books under the book) children from primary and nursery school take part to a workshop. We use CD ROM’s of pictures and sounds like a “mine”, from which we collect material to work about.

Deformations of real pictures, as well as strange “creatures” from 3D modelling become the heroes of the stories.

The “postman”, for instance, was made by modifying the face and the background of an existing picture.

There was a real “bingo” from which children picked, whose numbers in a multimedia interface on the screen were linked to pictures. Stories were told by the meeting of any of these.

The machine is the usual Amiga 1200, so the children, during the quick “lesson”, could look at an only big TV screen in the room.

This picture below is assembled from old clips, twisted and deformed, and then finished with a program for image processing.

Once upon a time there was a space ship. It was taken into a computer screen, where a little girl pushing her finger on a small device, named the mouse, and dragging it on a table, managed  it until the ship became like a warped big insect lost in the space.
