Here you can find in-depth interviews with the following bands (alphabetical order) :
ABYSSIC HATE Raw Depressive Black Metal at its best is what the Australian one man band Abyssic Hate stands for. "Suicidal Emotions" is an incredibly intense masterpiece of melancholic and morbid feelings reminding of Burzum's "Filosofem" atmosphere, and is only one step forward along the band's suicidal path. Check out also, if you're able to find them, the "Eternal Damnation" mcd and the split with Det Hedenske Folk, two other outstanding pieces of music. Here is our interesting conversation with Shane... (FORLORN SOUL) |
AXIS OF ADVANCE Here is the interview to this brutal and violent band from Canada done by my friend Francesco Parmigiani. The band is now signed with Osmose and is going to release soon its second album called "The List" after the acclaimed debut "Strike". Expect another proclamation of War and Hate! (FRANESCO PARMIGIANI) |
BEATRIK Beatrìk is one of the few bands which stands out in the extremely poor Italian Black Metal scene. With two limited demos called "Flames" and "The infernal wolf is still hunting" this one-man band presents to us a Raw and Old-Style Black Metal with some original touches and a strong Underground feeling. Smara, the man behind this entity, answered my questions... (FORLORN SOUL) |
CRAFT Craft was a real revelation for me and many other people, besides being another confirmation of the quality of the Selbstmord bands. Ok, they don't create anything new with their music, but everybody must at least admit they are able to do their job, not limiting themselves to be another Darkthrone-copy, but trying to throw in some original input, be it in the twisted guitar lines or in the sporadic depressive passages. In this interview (the second part of it is still unanswered) I tried to take a deeper look into the Craft's world and ideology. (FORLORN SOUL) |
CRIMSON
MOON
Once calling Southern California home, this Cult is about as sunless as it gets. A band that is not yet dead, yet has been overlooked in the US black metal scene for what?!.. being total genius!? One can find themselves put in a trance while experiencing albums such as "To embrace the vampyric blood" and one of their later ones, that includes the help and netherworldly contribution of Blood Moon Ausar, mainly "Under the serpentine spell". These albums will infect and/or effect your dreams, the darkest of dreams will become more mysterious with every summoning of Crimson Moon. Now..let Blood Moon put some words into your unconscious and subconcious minds! (MALEFIC) |
DARKTHRONE I think it's useless to present this band, as everyone knows Darkthrone is among the first Norwegian Black Metal bands which gave birth to this movement in the first 90's. And it is also the only band, I would say, that hasn't still betrayed its fans and still sticks to the roots. Maybe their sound nowadays is not as raw as it was in "Transilvanian Hunger", but I felt I had to pay a tribute to this band, one of the few standing points in our scene. (FORLORN SOUL) |
DEINONYCHUS Deinonychus is a particular band, which has never been attracted by last minute's trends. Now Marco has got a full line-up composed of experienced and quality musicians, so it was time for him to take a revenge against the bad luck of the past years, due expecially to problems with the labels. "Mournument" is in my opinion the band's best album so far, so an interview was necessary to know more about the band and Marco's thoughts. (FORLORN SOUL) |
EVOKEN This is one of those bands destined to enter the Extreme Metal Olympus without fear. EVOKEN became probably the best Doom/Death Metal band of the last years, with their absolute cult-releases Embrace the Emptiness and Quietus. I felt the need to interview the band, because I really love their music. Vince, drummer of the band, answered to my questions in a very interesting and also ironic way, and this is pretty strange considering the catacombal and funeral sound of the band (HERR MORBID) |
GRAVELAND No words are needed to present this famous Pagan Black Metal band With tons of releases in its discography, the band keeps on spreading its Pagan message to the listeners, moving its style from the old great Black Metal releases towards a more Epic kind of extreme Metal, reaching a good result (after the bad Immortal Pridealbum) with the recent releases, in particular with the interesting Creed of Iron. We have contacted Rob Darken to know something more about the concept and musical development of Graveland, even though we definitely disagree with his life-lovingattitude (HERR MORBID) |
KRIEG In a black metal scene filled with many brutal bands, Krieg seems to be one of the most agonizing around, listening to the music of Imperial and co. could be considered traumatizing and very harsh. Within this interview, you will read about Imperial's dedication to black metal, not only through Krieg and his other side projects, but also through Imperial's record label Blood Fire Death. If you haven't heard Krieg yet and you like the kind of black metal that beats the shit out of you...read on. KROHM Im a really good friend of Numinas, alias Dario Derna, the mind behind this fantastic one-man band coming from USA.. Dario, already known for his presence on keyboards in EVOKEN, created this project to satisfy his need to play Grim and Melancholic Black Metal in the vein of Burzum and Manes. I interviewed the band a lot of time before its signing with the cult-swedish label Selbstmord Services, so Im proud of the fact that Ive been one of the first supporters of KROHM Quite cool to see that now me and Dario are also signed with the same label Check out this interview, referred to the Crown of the Ancients promo-CD (currently professionally repressed by Selbstmord) (HERR MORBID) |
KULT OV AZAZEL This brutal Black Metal horde strikes from the USA, and with the first full-length album "Triumph of Fire" kicks our ass with pure bestial and satanic feelings, fast and sharpening riffs and ultra-screamed vocals. Thanks to this nice conversation with the band you will know something more about their ideology and beliefs. (FORLORN SOUL) |
MORTHOND Morthond is a newer depressive black/doom band/project from the U.S. Fans of such albums as Behemoth-Return of the northern moon, Abyssic Hate-Suicidal emotions and Wyrd Heathen take note. Learn more about the detached from the world views from this one person band by reading the interview. Since the time of this interview, Thorstadt has told me that a deal with Bindrune (known for Shroud of despondecy and Misery Omen) for a cd has been reached officially, set to be released before mid 2003. And also, the emptiness of being has been reached... (MALEFIC)

MUST MISSA This new band from Estonia totally shocked me with its fucking raw, sick and bestial debut-demotape, Sex beyond the grave. Being a quite unknown and underground band, I decided to contact the guys to talk a bit about their great debut-release. Berg (the singer) answered to my questions. Ask for their demotape as soon as you can! (HERR MORBID) |
SHINING The suicide squadrons of Stockholm are back with their third cd, the beautiful "Angst-Sjalvdestructivitetens Emissarie" out for Avantgarde Rec. Depravation, corruption, suicide propaganda and the decay of contemporary world are the themes Shining face in their lyrics. A young band that in a short time has succeeded in conquering the throne becoming one of the most appreciated in the Depressive Black Metal scene. Here's one of the longest interviews ever with the leader Kvarforth. (FORLORN SOUL) |
UNHOLY ARCHANGEL Unholy Archangel is one of the few Greek Black Metal bands which doesn't sound Greek at all ! Their music is instead a lethal combination of brutality and sickness, being influenced by kult hordes such as Blasphemy, Beherit, Profanatica, Von and so on. Here you can find my interesting conversation with Iapetos about the music of the band and their interest in Greek mythology. (FORLORN SOUL) |
XASTHUR Xasthur is a unique band which performs a Depressive and Atmospheric Black Metal in the vein of Manes, Mutiilation and Abyssic Hate but with a very personal edge. An atipical band for the U.S. territory, usually populated by War Black Metal bands that give no space at all to feelings of depression and which play only to be brutal. The only fellow one-man band to which Xasthur could resemble in the American land is Krohm, interviewed above. Malefic is a very clever person and it was a real pleasure to read what he had to say.
