HEILZ Iapetos ! How are you doing ? What are the latest news in the Unholy Archangel world ? Throughout your history you have “officially” released 2 demos and a split-cassette with Kult and Lust (Impaler of Trendies prod.). Could you describe all these works pointing out the main differencies and evolution between them?
Hailz!!!Nothing new for the moment. Only to prepare the 7ep"blessed by aris and wait to come the split lp with Thornspawn and the re-release the first 2 demos in one tape. The first demo was recorded only with me and Agisilaos with the help of the drum machine.Chaotic and brutal death metal... in the second demo drums were played by Parmenion but when the recordings were finished he left the band. This demo is more black than the first one but with the same brutality. Then the 3 way split recorded in 2000 with Xenofon on bass and hyperion on drums. The stuff of Unholy Archangel there, is more death metal but still heavy even if isnt so fast as in the previous ones.

Your 7”, “Blessed by Aris”, on the other hand, althought it was recorded in 1999 it has not been released yet. You told me it is because of a Greek rip-off label you have met... can you tell us something more about this story ? What do you think in general of the Greek labels ?
The 7ep" was planned to be released in the summer of 1999 by the small underground label I got (Unholy-distro) with the help of Sinister rec. but the guy behind this label disappeared when I gave him the money!! So no 7ep"at all. That person lives in Rodos. After all years just today I’ll take the money back. The only good labels here are Daimonion prod, Nemesis distro prod and of course Melancholy rec.(info-black) that is a great label. The others...

Also a split-LP with Thornspawn is on the way, this time through Hellflame prod. (Italy). It is great to hear it will be released by Nicola! How did you get in touch with him ? What do you think of Italian bands, zines, distributors, labels, public ? What do you know of our scene, our historical bands and the actual ones ?
Yes, I hope soon comes out the split lp from hellflame. I have contact with Nicola from the first days of Unholy Archangel. His support to us is great. I know many guys from the Italian scene like : Altar of perversion, Infernal goat, Ordo-Obscuri-Domini, Black Blood distro, Book of the Damned, Bylec-Tum zine, Warlord rec, and Black Star distro. I also know some historical bands like: Mortuary drape, Necromass, Black Prophecies, Death ss etc.

In my opinion Unholy Archangel’s music is pure blasphemy, dirtiness, unholiness ! The true portrait of Kaos ! The fucking evil raw sound we can hear in your works reminds really that of the “old days”. But you say it is done this way also because of the little money and time you spent on it. Don’t you think the utter clean and shining sound of today’s Black Metal is definitely too lousy for this kind of music ?
Yes of course it’s too loosy to have clear vocals or very tecnical themes in black metal. I believe black metal must be brutal,raw and noise!!!!

If I should draw a comparison between Unholy Archangel and another band, to make clear how your music sounds like, I would surely name first of all the music of Beherit. It is really in the same spirit, and also the production and recordings are similar ! Do you agree ? What other bands would you name as an influence for you ?
Yes Beherit!!!Great band. I agree with you. Also we have some influences from the great gods Blashemy -the best band in all black metal scene-. Also influences from: Bestial Warlust, Sarcofago, Archgoat, Abhorder, Creamation, Goatpenis, Belfegor (usa), Protector, etc.

Your lyrics are concentrated around Greek mythology mainly. How was this interest born in you ? Are you proud of your roots ? Do you consider yourself nationalistic people ? What do you think of today big phenomenon of globalization, and the immigration from places like Albania and others ? Has this plague spreaded also in your country ? How does your government react to this ?
I am follower of the 12 gods. It’s natural to write lyrics from my gods. I am very proud for my roots and my ancestors. I am not so in politics but I can say I am a nationalist a little bit. I love my country and I want it to be clean (mostly from the albanian plague). That is very natural. From the beginning of humanity the races, the countries use that protype of exelixis!! The today phenomenon of globalisation is very sick. We (like hellens) must forget the past and now must be europeans!! The same goes with you (like italians) or for the others French or German people!!! That is not healthy and of course not natural!!! Unfortunatly the hellenic goverment supports the globalisation and opens the gates for the assholes from Albania.

What do you think of the present Greek culture and society, if compared to that of the past ? Don’t you think it is far more shallow than that of our ancestors were ?
The Hellenic people of today have a big "sleep". Lythargos the hellenic of today, he doesn’t know about the superiority of his ancestors. The goverment together with the church doesn’t want to wake up the hellenic ‘cause when it happens, both of them will fall down and these traitors will go to guillottine for betraying our country. There is only one way : every new hellenic must read the ancient hellenic history, the ancient poets, authors...the past sees our future.

Your 7” vynil is titled “Blessed by Aris”, being Aris the god of war and destruction. Moreover, in your image shines a clear war-like attitude, supported by statements like those in the booklet : “War is everybody’s father and king” and “Peace is an undeclared war”. Are you convincted that war and conflict are the true essence of man ? Do you see life as an eternal struggle ? Would you take part in a war, and if yes, for what reasons ?

War is everything, war is immortal, war is everywhere. Life is war. War is not only with guns. You must look the ancient meaning of this word. The hellenic meaning is Polemos. Polemos is your job, Polemos for a girl, Polemos for a band,... war is physical, it is nature. There is no peace. In hellenic peace is Eirhni. It’s just irony. No i don’t hate the life, but i don’t fear death. You can read about that in "Laconik Agogo".

Reading the lyrics of “Blessed by Aris”, it is quite strange to read many texts about mythology and Greek gods near to a different lyric as “Anal Jehovah”, a strong anti-christian one whose introduction says <God of jews is a fucking slut... and I am his unholy Sodomizer !!!> !! What do you think about a possible connection between ancient paganism and modern Satanism/antichristianity ? Do you see any commont point between these two ideologies ?
Why do you find it that strange? Judeochristianism invaded my country and destroyed the temples of the 12 gods, burned our priests, killed all hellenics that followed the ethnic religion. It’s my turn now to write that antichristian songs or everything else. I hate judeochristianism because it destroyed my land.. if Judeochristianism stayed in Israel I wouldnt have had any problem. Now I have a big problem.

In the thanks-list your band says fuck off to, among others, Jews and byzantins. Why ? Do you consider yourselves fascistic towards some particular races and people ? I noticed Greece is part of a big Nazi-phenomen concerning Black Metal these days, take for example bands like Der Sturmer, Kaiadas, Legion of Doom, and so on... For what reasons ? How do you react to this phenomenon ?
No I am not a fascist, but I hate everyone that hits or tries to hit Hellas. Jews and byzantins are the same in religion. The only difference is that the byzantins have roots from Hellas but now are christians. When these ones turned to christians the true hellenic that believed in 12 gods were killed, burned,etc. I dont know about NS phenomenon in black metal here in Hellas. I know all these bands but I am not the guy that tells something about ns in black metal.

Also the macedonian band Baltak is in your “black list”, ha ha... It seems like they are the most hated band in Greece!! Why ? I read somewhere that they are in reality Jews that try to crush down your traditions pretending to be Greeks... do you know anything about this story ?!
There is no macedonian band with this name. Macedonia is a place from Hellas. The assholes with name Baltak are from a place called Scopia. Just only "slavs"or "slaves", it’s the same name. I hate all in Scopia. It’s a big nothing in history. Even the star they have in their flag is from the box that was found in vergina with the ashes of the father of the Alexander the great. Now they want to use the name of Macedonia. If Alexander the great lived now in that shitty country, it would turn to dust (hope to burn both with albanians). But now we have the jews politicians...every one can read some ancient authors from Hellas or Rome about the macedonians and the slavs or slaves. Or you can read the lyrics from the Iron Maiden song Alexander the great that says ‘macedonia of greece-hellas’. The name slavs or slaves was taken by the romans. Even their name is taken from others. Hahahha!!!

Has Unholy Archangel ever witnessed any line-up changes ? I know you have been friends since a long time, almost 10 years... So, are you close friends also outside the band ? What do you think of those bands who meet only to rehearse and record the albums ?
Today the line up is the same from 1999. I am in vocals, Agisilaos on guitars, Xenofon on bass, Hyperion on drums. Before as I said was Parmenion in drums. Yes I have many friends outside of the band. I dont know about other bands how it works. I dont care.

What about Unholy Archangel live? Are you involved in many live-shows ? How are the conditions of concerts in Greece ?
U.A. played only one gig. Totally raw, bestial and chaotic. There are some plans for the second gig, maybe it will happen in December. Nothing for sure.

Who are the Unholy Archangel members in everyday life ? What are your jobs and your hobbies ? Your personality, your favourite readings and visions ?
I work in a industry, Agisilaos in the central post office, Xenofon in siderurgy and Hyperion in a gas station. We read books, see videos ,listen to music, drink booze. Agisilaos’s big hobby is scuba diving. Something that he learned during his 2 years duty in the hellenic army.

What do you think of drugs as means to reach a higher perception ? Do you support them, along with alcohol, smoke and other destructive things ?
No I don’t support drugs or someting else like drugs. I am not in smoke. Only some beers and ouzo and only one or two times in a week. I follow the words of the my ancestors "healthy the brain and healthy the body".

What is your opinion about Internet connected with the Underground scene ? Do you think it has destroyed the primitive feeling the Underground had in the past or, after all, you think it is rather a great help for little bands who want to spread their music ?
From one hand it has destroyed the primitive feeling of the true underground but from the other hand it’s easier to send something to someone fast. I use both of them (internet and post service)

We dont have future plans for the moment except from a split cd that will be released next year from a brazilian distro. Thanks for the great questions you asked me and I had the pleasure to answer, and of course for your great support.
