LONG WAVE LISTENING

My experience of long wave listner start in the summer of 2006, wen i spent some time comparing the sensibility of a ICOM 775 and a selective meter WANDELL & GOLTERMANN SPM 18 FROM 100 Khz to 500Khz using like antenna my HF 9 BUTTERNUT were ham radio and air navigation beacon are present.

A friend told me that beacons don't use lot of power, and they have a mximum range of 100 miles, so they are good to study what can i do with 137 Khz and 500 Khz usig a net of beacons at qrp level and continous service.

I was impressed by sensibility of slelective meter because i can listen signal of -120 Dbm and more of intensity, it has open the door to an unknow world to me, in comparision of my ICOM 775 certanly not projected to listen in that band.

Unfortunatley my time to was very limited in central daylight hour, but one night i try to listen and i made some long distance listening like you can see in the table under here.

The beacon transmit one, two or three letter this is it's callsign in cw mode, continuosly and with slow speed, in my link page you can find more info.

2: THEESE BEACON WAS LISTEN ONLY WITH SPM 18 ONLY IN DAYLIGHT HOUR SUMMER 2006

3: THEESE BEACON WAS LISTEN ONLY WITH SPM 18 IN NIGHT HOUR IN OCTOBER 2006
