1997, Brescia, Agosti Nursery School
This robot was moving and speaking in the multimedia we did at the end of the experience. Children worked much on sounds, using a little good program where not only the draw of the voice was visible, but also its moving, in real time (so the “O” looked round, the “S” like a crowd of points...) I showed also effects, the tunnel, the chorus (”it seems a baby with many heads!), and the robot, of course..
Children say “Do that!” They seem to know exactly, though nobody never taught them, all what a computer can do with the sound!.
But today exist no more non professional programs for sound processing! Only wonderful players (for consuming), And for doing? The Sound Recorder of Windows, always the same across 20 years!
There was a real comet in the sky those days, well visible by everybody. The children had drawn it with the spray tool and the yellow colour on a black background: “Make it move from far, as approaching us!” they tell me, after seeing samples of a 2D animating program. So I did, and we put it in our multimedia video clip.

NURSERY SCHOOL
1997, Brescia, Agazzi Nursery School
This is “Nevosa” (the isle of the snow), another of the islands visited by Ulysses during his travels. It was made in few second by a 5 year old child, spraying a piece of picture on the screen.
Like in a moving picture, the real cardboard boat where children are “sailing” is put on the background of a digital see storm.
The story of Ulysses in Agazzi school becomes a multimedia video clip and is also, for several year, a web site.
Ther is also the Island of the Heads in the Air, a perspective effect very common in the old painting programs for the Amiga, but almost unknown by PC users. The clip contains also some 2D animations, that children could test themselves just by dragging the mouse through the screen with “brushes” and “animbrushes”, with all their movements. Too easy! All stuff like this has now disappeared!
1997, Ospitaletto (Brescia), Chizzolini Nursery School
An experience between fairy tales and computer, with children making multimedia like video clips with an authoring tool, drawing characters, recording voices. While trying paging up their stories and moving text and pictures on the screen, a little girl said: “It is not the picture itself that I drag about, but it’s ghost!” (NOTE: the terms “ghost” and “ghosted” are not used at all about using computers in Italian)
At the end of the experience the City Council decides to print our book in a professional
printing-
On the left is the power of the mouse, drawn by a 4 years child!
