My personal story in environmental education begins in 1987-88, with two experiences, both with children of municipal nursery schools.

In Milan, with 14 schools, the experience is named Flying with honeybees we discover the natural world.

In Brescia with 5 schools we set 4 projects called The Nature in the City, The River, The Horse and The Peat-Moss Park.

Many other projects on many other subjects have been developed during the following years up to nowadays, with  nursery and elementary schools, according to the requests and to the peculiarity of every chosen environment. Children above all had been living experiences, observing, exploring, discovering, imagining, and playing of course, as well as reading books , writing, researching. And we used our body while playing as well as technical devices such as video cameras, recorders, computers. This is what in Italy we call animazione in education, (difficult to translate, because the word in this case has another meaning, rather complex, apart from entertainment or animation).

Most of the experiences have their own document, non professional (but not bad at all!) videos and multimedia. Up to the “serious” produces: the CD ROM Alla scoperta della natura in città and Il Giocamare, the video Concittadini inaspettati and Scopriamo e raccontiamo la natura sotto casa and the photo exhibition Concittadini inaspettati.

The picture above (as well as the others in 4 Project page) is a title of a video, one of my first clumsy trials on computer graphic, made using a home machine with 256 colours video grabbing and superimpose (not a PC of course, in those times!)

All the pictures in this site are taken from the videos and the photos of the experiences. Drawings and paintings are by the children.
