November 2004: the project “Navighiamo nei parchi” (Let's surf the parks) is among the finalists in the Global Junior Challenge. The Award Ceremony takes place in the gilded rooms of Campidoglio City Hall, in the presence of Walter Veltroni, Mayor of the City of Rome and Tullio de Mauro, President of the Digital Youth Consortium. This project takes its origins from the experience of its author, Paolo Beneventi, in the field of environmental animazione and in use of audio visual and information means with the initiatives of the Coop on consumer education. The Social Centre Coop of Brescia, since the school year 1997-
The idea is to bring children of the elementary and nursery schools in the green spaces of their cities as “explorers” and “surveyors” and let them tell their discoveries before the video camera. Then in the classroom they revise the experience in different ways (scientific, narrative, fantastic). Since the year 2000- They use images, voices from the video, record comments at the computer, choose sounds and music, learn to place the “objects” on the multimedia pages and to program the effect of entry and exit of the objects and between the pages. The result is a series of short presentations like video clips realised by the children, to be inserted in the bigger presentation that, collecting the experiences during four years of 90 classes of children meeting environment, at it end is ready in 2003, as a CD ROM titled Alla scoperta della natura in città (discovering nature in town).
