Applications

UE Students resident everywhere and non-UE students resident in Italy
Applications must be submitted directly to the Registrar Office from April 1st to July 31st, at the following address:

Attached to the application please enclose:
- the certification of the study degree/s translated into italian and legalized by the authority of the Country issuing the certificate.
- the "dichiarazione di valore in loco", issued by the Italian Consulate/Embassy of the Country in which the degree/s was/were obtained. (See the downloadable form C1 or C2)
Students who are resident in Italy regularly, may apply by regular mail for the "dichiarazione di valore in loco" to the Italian Consulate/Embassy of their original Country
(See the downloadable form D1 or D2).

Application may be sent also by registered mail only.

non-UE Students resident abroad

Non-UE students have to apply to the nearest Italian Embassy/Consulate of their country to start the application process. Once all documents (degrees, italian translations and the "dichiarazione di valore in loco") have been legalized, the Consulate transmits the application to the Conservatory. The application must be received from April 1st until July 31st. Please note that the Consulates have also their own deadlines.

IMPORTANT: Under no circumstances wiil the Registrar accept extra-UE applications unless they have been sent by the Consular Office.


Requirements

- For the first cycle (bachelor, three years, 180 credits): High school licence (on completion of minimum of 12 years of global schooling).

- For the second cycle (postgraduate, two years, 120 credits): a bachelor or equivalent degree. Recognition of the foreign degree is performed by a committee which gives a global evaluation and decides about its suitability in terms of level and contents for the access to the chosen advanced programme.

Admission exams

The admission exams, depending on the major, take place in fall (second half of September-mid October). For a detailed list of the required admission program click here: bachelor or postgraduate.
Before the exam, the student is expected to take an Italian language test (oral and written, level B1 - intermediate). A sample (pdf) is downloadable here.  
Those who can prove a fair knowledge of Italian are exempt from the test. See further information.

School fees

First year under- or postgraduate students pay the school fees regardless their nationality. Please check the link for important information on fees.

BMK Tests

Students who have successfully taken the admission exam may take the following tests in order to prove their skills in basic music knowledge:

Bursary Students

Every year, the Conservatory of Music of Milan makes a selection among the applications of foreign students who have been granted a governmental scholarship and wish to attend our courses.
Students are expected to have a fair knowledge of Italian.

At the end of the period the student receives a certificate of attendance.

1) Students with a yearly scholarship are entitled to attend from November to June a one-hour class per week (major); moreover it is possible to sit in on other classes, seminars and master classes organized within the Conservatory.
The tuition fee is €1500,00.

 2) Students with a scholarship for a shorter duration will be accepted as auditors only.
Tuition is €900 for a semester, €500 for a trimester.
