Welcome!
The Conservatorio
di Musica
"Giuseppe Verdi", founded 1808, is one of the most important italian
music institutes; with more than 1,700 students, over 240 teachers and
20 majors, it is Italy's largest university of music. Thanks to its
outstanding standard of education it is reckoned as one of the most
prestigious music institutions in Europe.
Among the long list of prominent students and teachers, we can mention the following names, from past to present: Alberto Mozzati, Paolo Borciani, Luciano Berio, Franco Donatoni, Niccolò Castiglioni, Claudio Abbado, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Bruno Canino, Antonio Ballista, Maurizio Pollini, Rocco Filippini, Riccardo Muti, Paolo Bordoni, Ivan Fedele, Luca Francesconi, Barbara Frittoli, Daniele Gatti and many others.
The Conservatorio is part of the AFAM-system (Arts & Music Higher Education System), parallel to University. Access is with a high-school diploma, after audition.
The Conservatorio offers 67 specialized programmes, leading to an under- or postgraduate degree.
Located right in the heart of the city, it gives the chance to be in touch both with the artistic and social life of Milan, which is considered the Italian capital of music, fashion and finance.
Although the number of exchange students is limited, it is a very international place, considering the increasing number of foreign students who are earning their degree at our Conservatory.
