As a long lasting Macross/Robotech fan, I collected a lot of good stuff which turned
useful as a base for the development of the 3D Valkyrie Fighter.
This stuff is presented here in a list which is not certainly a comprehensive
one, nor a "best of..." selection, but simply a guide to what I found here in
Milan and what I think about it.
Books
Macross Mediax Mook 71
This book is about the makings of the Macross game for Sega Saturn. It boasts a mini poster
by Haruhiko Mikimoto, shots from the cut-scenes of the game and 3D models images of
various Macross' robots, ships and soldiers.
This models are of varying quality, some of them are really good anyway.
A long section is dedicated to the game itself with b/w screenshots, and there is also a good
collection of original drawings from the mecha design.
A portfolio of screengrabs from "Macross Do you remember love" closes the book.

HARUHIKO MIKIMOTO illustrations
This is not exactly a Macross book, but Mikimoto is the character designer of both Macross and
Macross2, and also the mangaka behind Macross7 Trash, and this book is entirely dedicated
to his illustrator skills.
The main sections are related to different anime series: Macross, Macross2, Orguss, Top o Neare
and Mobile Suit Gundam. You can find then a serie of images of various topics from books, posters,
CDs, packages and so on and finally a gorgeous collection of China black and white drawings.

Hobby Japan 7
H.J. is a well known japanese hobby magazine, and this issue features a comprehensive dossier
about Macross, Macross7 and Macross Plus. Despite my disgust about the Macross7 anime
this dossier is well done, with a lot of images from various modelkits ranging from Bandai and Imai
plastic models to B/CLUB and full scratchbuild resin models.
The section about Macross boasts an Imai Valkyrie fighter, QuadranLo and Regult, and a
miscellaneous page with a lot of small scale models.

Videos
Macross
This is the italian edition of the movie "Macross Do you remember Love".
The movie focuses on the love story between Hikijo, Minmay and Hayase and
there are not as many battle scenes as one
might expect; anyway what we have is really good.
The Valkyrie Super Fighter is rendered at its best, it appears in all
the space scenes and has a lot of small details added, while the
Battroid version is too squared and looks quite like a toy.

Robotech
I know that Robotech is not Macross, and that Carl Macek and co. did all
sort of weird things to Macross, Mospeada and Southern Cross to join
them in a unique saga, but here in Italy no one is going to produce Macross
videos, so better stick with Robotech.
The quality of animation is not constant through the episodes, but still this
is a great source of informations, and a lot of fun too.

Sunet Archive
Despite not being a Macross oriented site, sunet has a good manga/anime
sections with some beautiful images about Macross.
Most of the pictures are about Minmay or other characters, but there are also some
very good Valkyrie Battroids, Fighters and Gerwalks; SDF-1 shots and technical schemes
of vehicles and models complete the collection, not to forget
the funny Super Deformed Battroid.

Hobby Link Japan
This commercial site is dedicated to modelkits of various nature, and boasts a comprehensive
archive of Macross models. From robots to ships and figures everything is listed
in a clear way; for every item on the price list you get an "info" page with a brief description
a picture of the box and some images taken from the box sides.
The connection is fast and the provided images quite good, so this site is
useful both if you want to buy a model, or simply if you want some info about a
specific mech.

Bandai VF-1S SuperFighter 1:72
This VF-1S SuperFighter is quite a good model; the scale is not too small
and the level of detail is good. You can build it in SuperFighter or SuperGerwalk
mode, with a choice of different decals to apply.
Some minor flaws are that, as it's a sort of transformable model, some parts are quite poor as
far as realism is concerned, and the general assembly not very neat.
Anyway the two different heads provided with the model, as well as the cockpit and
the pilot, are very good.
