What's New
Discover the newest bits and bytes about the page

In this page you'll find news and general information about the site. It's a sort of mix between a "what's new" and an "about" page. Remember that the most recent notes are always on top of each list and printed in black.

General news

  • 7-1-2000
  • New section added. In "Mpeg/Avi Movies" you'll find all the videos I made to test the VF-11 transform scheme, and also all the movies I'm going to produce in the future.
  • 3-19-2000
  • New section added. "VF-11 Gallery" will show all the pictures of the recently developed Thunderbolt model. The birth of this section closes the lifespan of VF11 SNEAK PEEK, wich will still be available as a link in the new gallery page.
  • 2-26-2000
  • VF-11 SNEAK PEEK new update. The model is now going through the texturing process. The new images show the low resolution textures used to check the panel structure.
  • 2-2-2000
  • VF-11 SNEAK PEEK has been updated. New pictures and new notes about the development of the model are now available.
  • 1-20-1999
  • The new section "VHF-11 SNEAK PEEK" is now available from the main page (but not from the menu). This is not a "real" section, it's a page where the in-progress development of a new fighter is presented with pictures and comments. The fighter is the VHF-11 Thunderbolt from Macross Plus and Macross 7.
  • 11-19-1999
  • A Mailing List is now available on Valkyrie Power Page. All subscribers will receive e text only EMail message anytime something new is added to the page.
  • 9-11-1999
  • Fixed a bug in spawned windows and slideshow, now their size is right in Netscape 3.xx. Anyway slideshow still doesn't work in Win95/98/NT if you're using NS3.xx
  • 9-5-1999
  • A brand new section! The modeling of a Regult BattlePod produced some good results you can see exposed in this gallery. Of course the work is still in progress, but the main parts of the regult are ready; it just lacks some details.
  • 7-2-1999
  • As the front page reached 20000 hits, I decided to reward the visitor with a 1024x768x24Bit wallpaper featuring the latest and almost 100% complete model of YF19. It has new intakes, new cockpit and pilot, and the headgun is now present. Hope you enjoy it, and thank you!!
  • 4-24-1999
  • Do you remember the multiple windows bug? Well, in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 that bug is not present anymore, so now it's clear it was not my fault, but IE4's...
  • 2-11-1999
  • A new version of the slideshow is now available for all the galleries and browsers.
  • 11-25-1998
  • An entire new section is dedicated to the YF19 Alpha One Valkyrie.
  • Fixed font shrinking on Netscape4.11 and X11.
  • Added a dating line in the news page.
  • New exciting "What's New" page.. err, guess you are reading this!
  • Problems with Microsoft Internet Explorer: in the gallery page, if you reopen an already opened picture, Explorer signals a JavaScript error.

Mpeg/Avi Movies

  • 7-2-2000
  • A new movie of the VF-11 changing to a gerwalk and then to a battroid. Still it lacks some details (like hands) but the general structure is good. The colour scheme used comes from Macross Plus.
  • 7-1-2000
  • The section has 6 movies to offer, some of them are quite old now, and show VF-11 legs' movement. There's also an early test of a Gerwalk transformation.

VF-11 Gallery

  • 8-14-2000 Two VF-11 with Macross Plus color scheme flying over the sea at sunset. This picture will probably become a good wallpaper as soon as I can find enough time to render the backdrop in terragen at higher resolution.
  • 8-5-2000
  • A custom color scheme for this shot of the VF-11 Battroid. The blue painting is a sort of tribute to Max's VF-1J in Macross. The backdrop has been generated in terragen.
  • 8-3-2000
  • This looks like another dull battroid rendering, but the model has changed a lot from the last revision: it has new legs and arms, better fuselage and a completely revised transform scheme. Now it can flex its leg easily, and that'll allow for future more exciting renderings.
  • 8-1-2000
  • This is a composition of two VF-11 and a cel of Sharon Apple taken from the Macross Plus OAV. The cel has been completely repainted in Photoshop to provide it with a different lighting. The VF-11 models are the fully transformable ones, and they also boasts animated landing gears, but you can't see them 'cause they are closed :-)
  • 7-5-2000
  • A new picture of a moodly lit VF-11 battroid. I added some minor details and adjusted legs and arms, but the most evident improvement is the use of area lights in the scene, they provide a truly realistic look. Soon new color schemes will appear, starting from the plain white Macross 7 look.
  • 7-4-2000
  • A VF-11 over the sea, but this is not the usual VF-11 fighter, it's a battroid! The model is almost definitive, and it can transform nicely into gerwalk and fighter. The backdrop was generated with Terragen and composed in Photoshop.
  • 6-16-2000
  • I've changed the colour scheme to a grey camo with yellow glyphs for this space scene. I also modeled the solid-state propelled boosters you can see in the first Macross Plus' OAV.
  • 5-28-2000
  • A tribute to Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker, the plane that probably inspired the VF-11 design. I reproduced the first paint scheme of Su-27, with sky blue camouflage and white nose, and placed the VF-11 in a classic ramping scene.
  • 5-16-2000
  • This picture is almost identical to the latest VF-11 wallpaper, but the model has been enriched with a subtle bump map and the color correction is different.
  • A classic scene of a VF-11 flying over the sea. I like the way the nose of the plane is bent downwards. Sadly the material is quite too shiny, but this hilights the smooth shapes of this fighter.
  • 4-24-2000
  • New revised space expansions and a complete radar pack for this new picture of a VF-11 orbiting around earth. Sadly the big radar disc covers the antennas on the base.
  • 4-19-2000
  • A picture of a VF-11 with space expansions. It's not in space, but flying towards the sun. Space expansions are quite hidden and still under developement...
  • 4-1-2000
  • A straight picture of a ramping VF-11. The model has been rearranged in many ways, a cockpit with pilot and a cannon have been added. Also some details are now modeled and not textured, like the shield cuts.
  • Added an image of the VF-11 shot from below, with fire streams from the boosters. You can see also the brand new cannon.
  • 3-20-2000
  • Another modelkit looking picture of the VF-11. It has more details (like the head's tip) and subtler textures, but the main body texture needs a rearrangement. Oh, it now boasts a cockpit...
  • 3-19-2000
  • This is the first VF-11 image to appear on the gallery, but the model is still in progress. Texturing is activated on one channel only, it lacks antialiasing and some details are still missing. Anyway the results are good, with Lightwave's area lights providing a realistic modelkit look.

Wallpapers

  • 8-27-2000
  • The VF-11 Battroid makes its first appearence as the subject of a wallpaper. I like the pose of the model and the spacy background. The VF-11 is in deep space colour scheme, with new space expansions.
  • 4-30-2000
  • A VF-11 flying over mountains at dawn. This new wallpaper boasts a Terragen generated background providing volumetric clouds and sunrays. The model has a plain white color scheme, but a new multichannel diffusion and specular texturing.
  • 4-1-2000
  • This new VF-11 wallpaer is en enlarged and enriched version of the latest picture from the regular gallery.
  • 12-5-1999
  • New battlepod wallpaper. This is a revised edition of an older picture, now enlarged and enriched with better fog and water.
  • 10-17-1999
  • Added a new wallpaper with a YF19 flying through a Lightstorm. It's an 800x600 image, allowing for a better compression (95%) without being too large.

Regult BattlePod

  • 12-30-1999
  • Two battlepods escaping from an exploding tunnel. This dynamic image makes full use of fog lighting and neon glowing to provide tunnel lights. The original picture has been tweaked with TheGimp for color correction.
  • 12-5-1999
  • This image shows the same setup of the recent "battlepod over the sea", but conveys a new "anime cel" look by using LW's SuperCelShader.
  • 12-4-1999
  • A picture of a Battlepod on the sea. This picture shows LightWave 5.6 volumetric effects, used for lights and fog, and also boasts the latest materials for the regult battlepod.
  • 11-15-1999
  • A dramatic scene with a battlepod. The modeling and rendering were done in Lightwave, the background and terrain are Terragen products, the people come from Poser2 and the compositing and phototouching is a Photoshop and TheGimp work.
  • 10-30-1999
  • Thanks to Terragen now I can produce good compositions of LW rendering and terrain generations. Here is an early example.
  • 10-15-1999
  • Added a new picture of the Regult. It's just a shot of the model on a black background, to show the new details.
  • In this brand new sections you'll find images of the Regult battlepod, modeled and rendered in LightWave. The first pic is here to show the bare object, without textures, materials and details. It's also a good wallpaper, perhaps a bigger version will be uploaded...

YF19 Gallery

  • 12-5-1999
  • Steamy clouds and steamy smoke trails go for an overall steamy picure. I like the way the planes interact with the volumetric clouds and fog, and the material rendering is good too.
  • This new image is here to show the differences between the old YF19 model and the most recent one. The setting is almost the same as that of an old image, so you can appreciate the different texturing and attributing.
  • 9-11-1999
  • This is a remake of "This is animation special Macross Plus" cover. You may find it quite dark if your monitor is not well calibrated, and that'll be a shame as you'll lost characters' details...
  • 9-5-1999
  • The inspiration for this picture came from le flight sim. World War II Fighters, and the moon is directly ripped from that game. The idea of a night setting with fire lights came from the game too.
  • 8-16-1999
  • A couple of YF-19 flying over the sea. The sky is a Bryce generated panorama mapped over a sphere; the model now has lights on wings' tips and a new 3D structure for the canopy.
  • 7-26-1999
  • I'm REALLY proud of this picture! The fighter is 99.99% finished, with weathering and dirt added. The fire and smoke are gasous surfblur-filtered objects modeled with the demo version of Organica. The image is quite dark and alien, mainly because of the reddish main light.
  • 7-2-1999
  • Nothing more than a usual YF19 over the sea, but with a dawny light. The pilot has been revised, and now has glowing neon shoulders.
  • 5-30-1999
  • A couple of YF19s flying over the Kitty Hawk. The aircraft carrier picture is courtesy of Dorian Christofer, thank you very much.
  • 4-13-1999
  • Shiny YF19 outside a U.N.Spacy hangar. This night settled image looks really good. I'm probably going to add some rust and steam, so stay tuned for future upgrades...
  • 4-5-1999
  • This green looking picture is part of an animation I rendered recently. It starts from that quite famous CG image from Macross Plus anime, then crossfades to my CG yf19 flying in a light tunnel.
  • The best part of this picture is obviously the gorgeous fireball. I used a mixture of foggy and bumped spheres to obtain this effect.
  • I really like the background of this pic. The plane features its new non-metallic surface, providing it with a cartoon look and feel.
  • 2-6-1999
  • OK, the background is almost the same of a previous VF-1S picture, and the pose of the model is the usual "front shot", but the colors are beautiful and the cockpit has a lot of new details...
  • 1-12-1999
  • Added a refined version of the first picture of this gallery, featuring the new plane and pilot model, plus a beautiful sunset lighting and a new sea.
  • Here it is, the first picture of 1999! Do you remember the diving VF-1S? This is another reinterpretation of the original picture.
  • The pilot!!! He is now out of the plane, so you can take a look at him. It's just a tweaked and redetailed Poser3D humanoid. I think the plates on the ground are good too...
  • Two images of an orbiting YF19, the model has a brand new fuselage. The subjects of this pictures come from some very famous Macross Plus images i found on the Net and on magazines.
  • 12-17-1998
  • New picture with an YF-19 escaping from an explosion.
  • 12-14-1998
  • The usual "set scene" (model on a reflecting ground and spot lights) is enriched with a scratch pencil effect and gouache painting, thanks to Photogenics.
  • Added two images of the YF19, it's almost complete now...
  • 11-25-1998
  • Two images of YF19 over sea, with different materials and a space scene of an orbiting YF19, these are still temporary files...

PC Gallery

  • 7-10-1999
  • This is the latest incarnation of my VF-1S model. It has landing gears and cockpit and a lot of refined details. Iven if it won't probably be developed further, it was worth showing, as it never appeared on this page...
  • A neat picture of a VF-1S with space expansions over a shiny surface. It was a test rendering to show the development of the boosters, but as this development has quite stopped, I decided to put the picture on the page.
  • 2-10-1999
  • Fixed a slideshow bug. Now it perfectly works under Linux, Unix and X11 systems
  • This is my "Macross" interpretation of a famous "Macross Plus" image featuring an YF19 orbiting around earth.
  • A Valkyrie in the space over a destroyed Venus! The flare effects have been created with The Gimp: a graphic package running under Linux.
  • New close view of a VF-1S. This pic boasts one of the best backgrounds I ever created, thanks to AATextures!
  • A gloomy space scene with a nice girl. I also found some mercatore projections of Mars, Venus and Earth and I'm going to use them in a space image...
  • New images of a Valkyrie in semi-Gerwalk mode. This has deployed legs, but no arms; a sort of landing configuration.
  • Added a new image of Valkyrie VF-1S taking off from a space hangar.
  • The picture viewer now uses a Javascript which opens a new window for each pic.
