Rocco Bartolomeo
(Tullio) Buscaglia was born in 1885 in Zinasco (PV).
As a young man learned the trade of weaver and had a job as a
supervisor in a textile Montalenghe (TO).
Rosa was born in Mercenasco Cagna (TO), also in 1885. She also
worked in the textile factory of Montalenghe. Rosa and Tullio knew
it there and were married in 1906.
Rocco and Rosa had four children. Vincenzo (Vincent) was born in
1909, Margaret (Margie) born in 1913, Carolina (Lena) was born in
1917, Felice Leonardo (Leo) was born in 1924.
When Vincent was just a child of five months, Tullio decided to go
to the USA to start a new life for his little family.
Departing from the port of Genoa, he came to the island of Ellis,
New York, 20 December 1909 while traveling on the ship "SS Virginia.
Then he took a train for Gallup, New Mexico, to work for the Gibson
Coal Mine.
Waiting for her in Gallup was her sister Mary and his brothers
Roberto and Paolo.
He did not stop in this city for a long, and after several months
moved to the west, to Los Angeles.
His wife and young child reached him in Los Angeles the following
year. They went with the ship "La Touraine" from the port of Le
Havre in France and came to the island of Hellis on 25 September
1910.
After various jobs, Tullio he found employment as a waiter in a
restaurant is very important for his family was growing.
As the economy of the country, at that time was not good, there was
never enough money, they nevertheless managed to save more. They
finally bought a house in Fairmount Street in Los Angeles, and took
a pretty flower garden and a large garden. They also cultivated the
vine and bottle the wine produced each year.
Of course, over time, the children grew and began his life. Vincenzo
(Vincent) married Anna Maga, native Scarmagno (TO) in the canavese,
emigrated to the USA as a child.
They had a son, Albert. Carolina (Lena), married Peter (Pete) Maga,
the brother of Anna (The first child of the family born in the U.S.)
They had two children, Jayne and Nadine.
Felix, also known as Leo, it was a university professor of the USC
University of Southern California, and was also a noted writer.

Leo does not get married ever. The story of Margaret, Margie, we
know it well.
Tullio and Rosa lived for many years in their home taking care of
the garden and grandchildren.
Rosa, however, suffered from diabetes and heart problems and passed
a better life in 1970. Tullio was thus left in solitude to live near
the premises of his daughter Margie and her family. In 1973, at the
age of 88 years, Rocco Tullio died in a hospital with his brother
Gilbert at his side.
Many things in the life of Rosa and Tullio were already known in the
U.S., because their youngest son, Leo (also known as Dr. Hug) was a
famous writer and reader.
Two books in particular made him famous: "Dad, my Fhater" and "Seven
Stories of Christmas Love", which tells a lot about the family life
Buscaglia.
He was also a popular guest player for the PBS, Public Broadcasting
System.
