The
triumphal float is the result of a long and careful craftswork of papier–machè made
by a local artist every year. A.P.T., the Tourist Authority of Basilicata yearly
publicizes a competition for the fulfilment of a design dealing with the themes of the Old
and New Testaments. The craftswork is made since March to June. The first float dated back
to 1690. Bas – reliefs and statues of angels, saints and doves are put on the wooden
framework. Colours, shape and patterns change every year. |
