Mind you I discovered C M is buried with
Isabella and John Thomas Early my gran trying to save
money, I'm surprised she didnt invest in lime pit
George Josling my mum’s
cousin married Iris Alban, I think that the spelling is right, she may have
been born in Arlesey, Bedfordshire - I don’t feel
that I should say more because they might not like it if I do
The house in St Albans was well posh, George
was well ansome,and a turf
accountant by trade. Houses sell for 3 million plus in Marchall
drive these days.His desendents
are very good looking

· a family
source says Edith Ann lived in Deptford, Kent (1919), and Hitchin, Herts · she was
already in the 1924 telephone directory as “Newsagent, Dining Room” at 2
different addresses in Hitchin, Herts, only a year
after her husband died · her
granddaughter says: Edith Ann and her daughter ran a successful wholesale
newsagents business together, in Hitchin Hertfordshire, known as EA and AE
Harding, and were joined in the business by Amelia Edith’s husband, John
James Thompson, son of a Northumberland coal miner, after WW2, when he
returned from active service as a corporal - the business carried on for 60
or more years altogether, and was later managed by John James, who died 18
DEC 1984, age 76 - Edith Ann had a good business brain – she owned a lot of
property and would rent it out to friends and relations – she also employed
her friends and relations, to share in her success - one good friend was our
cook, house keeper, and nanny to my sister and me: Florence Elizabeth Green
[nanny] considered us to be her family, she stayed with us until her death,
and is buried with Edith Ann and Amelia Edith in Hitchin Cemetery – I am
named Jane after my Father’s Mother, and Elizabeth after nanny · a newspaper
article following her death said the business was originally started by her brother
(but it doesn’t say which one) during WW1, and she took it over shortly
afterwards – of her 2 brothers, one survived her, but the other one, George
Miller Evans, who a family source says lived in Hitchen,
died in 1919, so perhaps he started the business |

a family
source says William Harding lived in Camberwell, Surrey – his granddaughter
says had developed mental illness after WW1 - at the time of his passing, his
home address was that of his sister, Susan Kate Harding, 27 Calmington Road, Camberwell, Surrey - nothing more is

Iris M. wrote to her with the news of her 2nd marriage - my Mother
had loved George Walter as a brother, no one would have been good enough for
him - George Walter Josling and George Early were
brought up by her mother, Edith Ann Evans Harding Early - George Early said
Amelia Edith and George Walter got the steak, and he got the sausages - George
Walter’s house in St Albans was, well, posh – he was a handsome man, a turf
