As previously said, Katrina’s World is
the Earth in a far future, when our present age will be totallly
forgotten. That future Earth is populated by three races:
Vampires
Vampire’s society is divided in castes.
At the top there are the Great Masters, millenary Vampires
endowed with Superior powers. Great Masters form the Great
Council. They rule all the Vampires society, and each Vampire
in the World has to obey their laws, under penalty of death.
Vampirized humans and Savages (a kind of beasty-like, totally
out of control Vampires completely submissed to their lowest
instincts) are at the bottom of the social ladder: they are
a kind of “paria”: each Vampire would immediately
kill a savage, if by chance meeting him.
Great Masters and Savages are the only
castes that cannot be acquired during life: it’s just
a matter of birth.
Any other intermediary status is assumed by virtue or demerit,
other than noble birth.
Katrina’s social prestige is very low, due to her past
disastrous enterprises.
Vampires maintains a core source of power in a fortress located
in their capital City.
Up
Licanthropes
Main Vampire’s opponents are not
Humans (that fear Vampires), but Licanthropes. Unlike Vampires,
Licanthropes live vacant in forests (in which is located the
Holy Site where they gather). Anyway, Licanthropes also are
able to assume a human look, and freely mix with unaware humans.
Once transformed, Lycantrhopes are big, thick, with terrifying
nails and tusks, really threathening and powerfull, literally
able to dismember their victims. Their society isn’t
divided in castes, but it’s composed by tribes.
Each tribe is ruled by a Chief, while all of the other members
are granted the same rights and duties.
When a new group leaves a tribe, a new leader is chosen (designed
by the tribe’s leader, or entrusted because of her/his
physical strenght.
Please, note that while Vampires are able to vampirize Humans,
Lycantrhopes’ bite isn’t contagious: you are born
Lycantrhtope, that’s all. This is one of the many reasons
because of Lycanthropes see vampirism as a kind of desease
to be defeated.
Up
Humans
Human are the weakest among the three
species.
The majority of human beings lives in little country villages,
unsheltered against Vampires’ attack: human beings are
seen as food by Vampires: and that’s the very reason
because of they are not exterminated.
In such a villages people try to defend as they can, perfectly
aware of their life’s precariousness.
A minority of human population inhabits the few existing towns,
real fortresses well protected by various devices: here people
feel quite safe.
