The Latin Vatican Codes


The term "codice" comes from the Latin "codex", which means “tree”; from a tree they obtained the material to make tablets which, spread with wax, were used to write. The word "codice" was also used later on to indicate manuscripts. The "codici vaticani latini" are in fact manuscripts of different authors, themes and times and are kept in the "Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana".
