One, none, and hundred thousand, that is only one land with thousand faces, a fascinating universe so varied to explore. Sicily, land of myths and legends, gives a rise to traveller for a stop that is a opportunity of amusement and, in the same time, a discovery of tourist and cultural curiosities of the island. For its particular geographic position Sicily became a strategic basis for Phoenixes and Greeks, Arabians and Normans. The vestiges of those dominations represent an extraordinary monumental and cultural estate: the Greek temples and Roman theatres of Syracuse, Agrigento, Segesta; the magical Taormina; the charming medieval streets of Erice; the majestic Norman cathedrals of Monreale and Cefalù, with their stunning Byzantine mosaics; the Baroque monuments of Palermo, Catania, Noto. Born in the sign of fire, the island of the vulcanos is always associated to the myth of Etna, but from the abysses, which surrounded it, emerge islands of still active black lava. Mythology considers them residences of feared and vindictive gods. For the modern Ulysses, Etna, Vulcano, Stromboli are above all wonderful naturalistic oasis. For the lovers of sun and sea, Sicily offers from wild cliffs to endless beaches of fine sand. It is surrounded with a diadem of islands and every has characteristics that render them absolutely unique. Who thinks Sicilian food only as "Mediterranean and marine" will be surprised from the styles and the tastes offered.
The spell of baroque cities and the charm of the volcanos, the beauty of the islands and the vestiges of a extraordinary past. It is the classic and inedited Sicily that I invite to discover.
"I am
happy to think that I now carry in my soul
a picture of Sicily, that unique and beautiful
island, which is clear, authentic and complete"
