Cusine and wines of Conegliano and the
province of Treviso
Conegliano
stands out as the home to Prosecco
wine; this region offers the ideal environmental conditions
for vine growing.
Prosecco’s vineyards
stem from this soil and are therefore stout and resistant
with beautiful hazelnut-coloured vine shoots and large vivid
green leaves turning to a golden yellow in autumn; grapes
are round or ogive-shaped with a yellow colour and thin
peel.
The production area of Prosecco stretches
from Conegliano to Valdobbiadene.
Since 1969 the area, with its 3,500 vineyard-cultivated
hectares, can boast the D.O.C. mark
(mark of controlled origin); there are also other qualities
of vinegrapes such as Bianchetta,
Perera and Verdiso
which can be added in small quantities to Prosecco according
to the year and area of production so that the typical taste,
aroma and fragrance are constantly obtained.
The beautiful
Road of Prosecco wine, the very first in Italy, crosses
the area of production.
It starts from Conegliano and stretches along the hilly
land and soft plains scattered with small taverns and villages.
Along the road the visitors can enjoy the pleasure of tasting
meals of the local cuisine accompanied with a glass of Prosecco.
