| An artist with great
curiosity and the power to bewitch, Lenner experiments in materials, all natural
and often primitive, such as wood and iron. He is always recognizable for his
coherent conceptual itinerary, if only for his continual exploration of ingratiating
forms and other visual joys. The crossing of the arbitrary border between "painting-sculpture"
and "abstraction-representation" is clear in his work. In the paintings from the
1970s and 1980s, the "constructed" object, solid yet rarified, is the consequence
of a painting such as "Same Color Material." In his recent sculptures, "Tyrants,
Heroes, Gods and Demi-gods," historical fascination - nostalgia for the impossible
- is considered by the artist with an ironic, compassionate look. This fascination
therefore is not ingenuous conservation or mythical superstition, but is very
present - sad and dangerous, its values ever growing fainter. Artista
dalle tante curiositā, e incantamenti, Lenner č sperimentatore di materie, tutte
naturali o comunque primitive, come il legno e il ferro. Se pur nella continua
esplorazione di forme insinuanti, e altre gioie visive, č sempre riconoscibile
il suo coerente itinerario concettuale. Evidente č il superamento dell'arbitrario
confine fra "pittura-scultura" e "astrazione-figurazione". Nei quadri, risalenti
agli anni settanta e ottanta, l'oggetto "costruito", solido e pure rarefatto,
č la conseguenza d'una pittura intesa come "Materia uguale Colore". Nelle recenti
sculture "Tiranni, Eroi, Dei e Semidei" la fascinazione storica, come a dire nostalgia
dell'impossibile, č pensata dall'artista con ironico pietoso sguardo. Non ingenua
conservazione o mitica superstizione, quindi, ma presente, triste e pericoloso,
affievolirsi di valori.
