One can't really say that Lenner's work is directly influenced by 'neoplasticism'. However, he certainly had to deal with the problem of chromatic objectivity in order to attain effects that could be defined as sculpturpictoral... The rational is exorcised; ideas and allusions to archetypes and "historic" models, as well as a certain art ethnography, appear... Lenner reminds one of an artist whose mind looks towards modernity and the esthetic rigor of contemporary artists, and whose eyes are bewitched by the magic of the social and popular art of civilizations long extinct. I think of certain pre-Incan motifs and of a particular chromaticism which is almost sacred. From a review by Guido Montana in "Carte Segrete"
L'operazione di Lenner non può certo dirsi influenzata direttamente dal neoplasticismo; ma sicuramente ha dovuto fare i conti col problema dell'oggettività cromatica, per giungere a risultati che potremmo definire di sculto-pittura... Il razionale è esorcizzato; vi affiorano nozioni e richiami agli archetipi e ai modelli "storici", nonché a una certa etnografia dell'arte... Lenner fa pensare a un artista che abbia la mente indirizzata alla modernità e al rigore estetico dei contemporanei e, a un tempo, gli occhi "incantati" dal fascino dell'arte popolare e sociale di civiltà ormai estinte.
