Arachnida, Araneae, Leptonetidae - Leptoneta crypticola Simon, 1907 - This is an eutroglophile species with small size (body length about 3 mm), that preys little insects with its thin webs generally situated near the soil. It is a polytypical species with popolations belonging to different subspecies and wide geographical diffusion from the Ligurian to the Cottian Alps. It has very lengthened legs, that under particular angles of light shows bluish reflections; it has reduced and not functional eyes, as showed by its characteristic walking system in which its thin and lengthened legs of the first pair are used to sound the ground. durung the search carried out by the author together to Claudio Arnò, new stations of this spider have been found in artificial militar subterranean of the middle Maira Valley (Nov. 2000) and of the lower Stura of Demonte Valley (Jan. 2001).
