    » Alek's Christmas Lights & Decorations
Provides photos and information of a Boulder, Colorado homeowner's light display
    since 2000.

  • I'd encourage you to read my side of the story and then form your own opinion if I was naughty or nice

  • ;-) 2005_11_21: With my folks in town, I'm taking a couple of days of vacation, and the weather is quite nice ..

  • Otherwise, the Gemmy inflateable are hanging in there - nice products

  • We had a nice flight with who was a great pilot - lined it up perfectly for the flyby pictures, but you guys kept turning the lights off! ;-) Dirk and Kyle had a blast seeing the house from a 1, 000' up

  • They did say my lights looked nice! ;-) Kate Larsen from the Boulder Daily Camera chimes in this morning with a front-page leader of and a sub-title of 'Christmas scene now raises money for charity.' She spent a bit of time on the phone and interviewing me in person on this story and (unknown to me until I read the article) also did a secret visit to the house - nice job! Kate mentions the Denver radio station's $10, 000 offer from last year - - their latest reason for not wanting to ante up for charity this year is 'we couldn't track anyone down ..

High On Hope: Howard Marks talks to Free Radical Sounds
    A very candid interview.

  • Nice (ISBN NO 0 436 20305 7)

  • In 1997 Howard stood in the UK general election on behalf of the Legalise Cannabis Party [and did very nicely thank you]

  • ' Mr Nice ', the book

  • I'd like to talk about the introduction now - that goes into how you got the name Mr Nice

  • The real Mr Nice is called Donald Nice and lives in Norwich (laughs) - it's true - or, did live in Norwich in the mid '70s, perhaps still does

  • And this guy, Donald Nice, emerged as a suitable candidate

  • I mean, if a bunch of guys I liked wanted me to, or asked me to, and I felt, yes, this'd be nice to get involved with, yeah

Altercation: Still smearing Sontag - Altercation - MSNBC.com
Eric Alterman comments on political journalism and the election process.
MSNBC weblog with the slogan "is this the right room for an argument".

  • But why in the world would a fellow journalist, in this case put the hire in : “Here are a couple of questions for the magazine’s new sleuths: Why did those advertisers leave? And will more investigative reporting bring them back?” Since when do journalists think that the only thing that matters in journalism is profits? I have no comment on the Cokester’s comments over the weekend except to say, I thought we drove How the hell did she get back on “This Week?” Nice, thoughtful, un-bloglike piece by thinking about Israel/Lebanon coverage

    Movies for Guys: Mr. Deeds
    So-so review of the film.

  • Deeds Rated PG-13 Runtime: 1hr 36min Starring: Adam Sandler, Winona Ryder, Steve Buscemi, Peter Gallagher, Jared Harris MFG Rating: 3/5 Adam Sandler is back doing what he does best, playing a likeable hometown kinda guy who just wants to be nice to people

  • This is a town where everybody knows everybody else, and apparently Deeds is the nicest guy around

  • Predictibly the dollars don't phase him, he's just a nice guy

    The Woolamaloo Gazette
Satircal comment, information on books and literary events and work-related topics.

  • Its actually a pretty enjoyable soundtrack (especially if you already like Glass) and I realise now how much of it had passed me by during the actual show (but then the incidental music is meant to help the story along, not to be the main attraction), so it is nice to hear it properly; I especially love the use of the percussion in some of the battle scene pieces, reminiscent of Taiko drumming and just ever so slightly Crouching Tiger-esque

  • Eventually after going past the Falkirk Wheel you can go through to Glasgow this way - the other direction terminates right at Tollcross in the city centre of Edinburgh, right round the corner from the student flat Mel and I used to share years back; the whole area was semi-derelict and is now regenerated with new flats, bars and restaurants (the ones I posted up here ages ago) with more of the canal where the former brewery next to be redeveloped (which is going to make my end of town even nicer)

  • Once this would have been a damned busy place of work when the canals were still major arteries of commerce; now after years of neglect they're being regenerated like many down south, the towpaths cleared and mended for walkers and cyclists (forming great off-road cycle networks across the country), holiday barges, rowboats for hire, floating restaurants, the university's rowing club all using it more and more and also a nice route for locals to take in and out of town - makes a nice change from walking on a path next to a busy road at rush hour, doesn't it? Hmmm, could wander on home now or could just sit here and watch the world going slowly by
