· · · · · · · · Other Xbox Resources Fable Review at allXbox.com A fun, but flawed, RPG BY Fable will likely serve as a cautionary tale for game developers for some time to come, of what happens when the minds behind a game allow their enthusiasm to get the best of them and promise things they end up not delivering - although it should be duly noted that designer Peter Molyneux was a class enough act to come forth and formally apologize to fans for not living up to the expectations he helped set for them, even though Fable sold well enough out of the gate for him to shrug the stings of criticism off
In that case, the Xbox would need to scan the disc and the hard drive, calculate what the environment you're entering should be, then figure out the changes you made, and then need to create the scene
Technology - even on the Xbox - hasn't quite hit that point yet where such freedom is possible, and what we've come to know as RPGs in software terms have really been scripted productions where you are playing the role of a character, but often without much freedom and you don't really have a say in creating the role - you're sitting in the audience with the controller and the story doesn't move forward unless you achieve certain conditions, but you either 'do' or 'do not', there's not a whole lot of options to 'go around' those challenges
