The painting is
inspired by Michelangelo Buonarroti's marble sculpture of "David" in
Florence. His physique is perfect and toned, like every man's ideal.
Muscles and Latin
charm represent the Italian man. He is wearing a red and white
underpants, in Italian fashion. In the background the purple lilies of
Florence and a carpet of white flowers and other smaller red lilies.
A floral
background that recalls the Florentine Renaissance in which the artist
identified the Italian man who has no time, but always projects himself
into the future in his classical and human key.
David is an ideal
of man because he is perfect and imposing. It has spanned the centuries
but still represents an ideal of man in Italy today.
Modern masculinity
is that complex of characteristics typical of man ranging from physical
appearance, attitude, taste that projects him every day in the
contemporary world and in his own vital nature. Energy and positivity,
activism and virility, strength and courage, independence and
assertiveness - this is modern masculinity.
A modern man is
that man capable of always being himself in every circumstance and in
every situation, capable of living his present with all of himself, in
his potential but also in his goals to be achieved.

Buonarroti a Firenze. Il suo fisico è perfetto e tonico, come l'ideale
di ogni uomo. Muscoli e fascino latino rappresentano l'uomo italiano.
Esso indossa una
mutande rossa e bianca, alla moda italiana. Sullo sfondo i gigli viola
di Firenze e un tappeto di fiori bianchi e altri gigli rossi più
piccoli.

floreale che richiama al rinascimento fiorentino in cui l'artista ha
identificato l'uomo italiano che non ha tempo, ma si proietta nel futuro
