"Before Bigger Splash" is born from the famous pop art painting of the artist David Hockney "A Bigger Splash". Through this capsule collection, Carlo Trevisan wants to pay tribute to the British painter, emphasizing that he is "one of the greatest contemporary artists".

"In my paintings of the capsule collection, everything is located a moment before the big splash. Sun, blue water, celestial sky, palm trees, architecture are the common denominators of this collection" explains Carlo Trevisan.

Can you tell us about your capsule collection? What were your inspirations? 
"Before bigger splash" is my recent capsule collection. It is born from the famous pop art painting by the British artist David Hockney "A Bigger splash" and he wants to pay homage to him by recognizing that he is one of the greatest contemporary artists. In his painting he depicts a swimming pool next to a modern house featuring a large spray of water created by a diver. In my capsule collection paintings, everything is located a moment before the big splash. Sun, blue water, celestial sky, palm trees, architecture are the common denominators of this collection. They are Californian atmospheres full of light and color, water and sky, peace and relaxation. Paintings that are united in pure and uniform colors. Paintings that recall the heat and the summer. Atmosphere in which the observer would like to immerse himself and be the protagonist, in a bathing suit, in the cool of the pool water, in the silence of the palm trees posse from the wind.

What does this new job mean to you? What message or emotions do you want to convey through this new work? 
This capsule collection is for me another proof of painting and art. From a theme, find a common thread that unites in a communion of color and light. Blue, pink, yellow, white: colors that run from one painting to another. The paintings are full of color and light. Color and light that people, looking and observing each painting, absorb into their soul. Positivity and a sense of freedom: this is the message I would like to convey with these works. Open spaces where thought is free to travel. A blue pool water in which to immerse yourself and dive. The celestial sky to free oneself in flight like a free diver in open space, the freedom to breathe light and positivity without fear, without obstacles. Today's man needs to find himself and understand that starting from light, water, from the open space of nature, his breath can return to being more real and profound. 

The painting "Before Bigger Splash" depicts a swimming pool next to a modern house, with a diver who has just jumped from a diving board. It pays homage to the famous pop art painting by the English artist David Hockney, in which however a large jet of water created by the diver appears, that is, a few seconds after Trevisan's painting. In the painting we see a swimming pool with a building of 1960s modernist architecture behind it, typical of Californian houses. A yellow diving board protrudes from the right edge of the painting, above which a diver in a red swimsuit is suspended in the blue of the pool, the edge of which is outlined by a blue stripe and a thinner white one. The positioning of the trampoline - coming diagonally from the corner - gives perspective as well as cutting off the predominant horizontals. The colors used are deliberately homogeneous and bold to emphasize the strong Californian light and give the painting a pop art version. The yellow diving board stands out spectacularly against the turquoise water of the pool, which echoes in the soft turquoise of the sky. Between sky and water, a strip of flesh-colored land denotes the horizon and the space between the pool and the building. The architecture of the building is represented by a rectangular block with two windows, in front of which a folding chair is clearly outlined. Two palm trees with long, thin trunks adorn the background of the painting on the right, while others are reflected in the windows of the building. A row of low green vegetation decorates the facade.

Attraverso questa capsule collection, Carlo Trevisan vuole rendere omaggio al pittore britannico, sottolineando che si tratta di “uno dei più grandi artisti contemporanei”. "Nei miei dipinti della capsule collection, tutto si trova un attimo prima del grande splash. Sole, acqua blu, cielo celeste, palme, architettura sono i denominatori comuni di questa collezione." spiega Carlo Trevisan. Puoi parlarci della tua capsule collection? Quali sono state le tue ispirazioni?

"Before Bigger splash" è la mia recente capsule collection. Nasce dal celebre dipinto pop art dell'artista britannico David Hockney “A Bigger splash” e lui vuole rendergli omaggio riconoscendogli uno dei più grandi artisti contemporanei. Nel suo dipinto raffigura una piscina accanto ad una casa moderna caratterizzata da un grande spruzzo d'acqua creato da un tuffatore. Nei miei dipinti della capsule collection tutto si trova un attimo prima del grande splash. Sole, acqua blu, cielo celeste, palme, architettura sono i denominatori comuni di questa collezione. Sono atmosfere californiane ricche di luce e colore, acqua e cielo, pace e relax. Quadri che si uniscono in colori puri e uniformi. Dipinti che ricordano il caldo e l'estate. Atmosfera in cui l'osservatore vorrebbe immergersi ed essere protagonista, in costume da bagno, nel fresco dell'acqua della piscina, nel silenzio delle palme possedute dal vento.

Cosa significa per te questo nuovo lavoro? Che messaggio o emozioni vuoi trasmettere attraverso questo nuovo lavoro?

Questa capsule collection è per me un'altra prova di pittura e arte. Da un tema, trova un filo conduttore che unisce in una comunione di colore e luce. Blu, rosa, giallo, bianco: colori che corrono da un quadro all'altro. I dipinti sono pieni di colore e luce. Colore e luce che le persone, guardando e osservando ogni dipinto, assorbono nella loro anima. Positività e senso di libertà: questo è il messaggio che vorrei trasmettere con queste opere. Spazi aperti dove il pensiero è libero di viaggiare. Una piscina dall'acqua azzurra nella quale immergersi e tuffarsi. Il cielo celeste per liberarsi in volo come un apneista nello spazio aperto, la libertà di respirare luce e positività senza paura, senza ostacoli. L'uomo di oggi ha bisogno di ritrovare se stesso e comprendere che a partire dalla luce, dall'acqua, dallo spazio aperto della natura, il suo respiro può tornare ad essere più reale e profondo.

Il dipinto "Before Bigger Splash" raffigura una piscina accanto a una casa moderna, con una tuffatrice che si è appena buttata da un trampolino. Rende omaggio al famoso dipinto pop art dell'artista inglese David Hockney, in cui però appare un grande getto d'acqua creato dal subacqueo, cioè pochi secondi dopo il dipinto di Trevisan. Nel dipinto vediamo una piscina con alle spalle un edificio di architettura modernista anni '60, tipico delle case californiane. Dal bordo destro del dipinto sporge un trampolino giallo, al di sopra del quale una tuffatrice in costume da bagno rosso è sospesa nell'azzurro della piscina, il cui bordo è delineato da una striscia azzurra e da una più sottile bianca. Il posizionamento del trampolino - proveniente diagonalmente dall'angolo - conferisce prospettiva oltre a tagliare gli orizzontali predominanti. I colori utilizzati sono volutamente omogenei e decisi per enfatizzare la forte luce californiana e dare al dipinto una versione pop art. Il trampolino giallo si staglia scenografico sull'acqua turchese della piscina, che riecheggia nel tenue turchese del cielo. Tra cielo e acqua, una striscia di terra color carne denota l'orizzonte e lo spazio tra la piscina e l'edificio. L'architettura dell'edificio è rappresentata da un blocco rettangolare con due finestre, davanti alle quali è chiaramente delineata una sedia pieghevole. Due palme dai tronchi lunghi e sottili adornano lo sfondo del dipinto a destra, mentre altre si specchiano nelle finestre dell'edificio. Un filare di bassa vegetazione verde decora la facciata.
