Una delle molte idee studiate per difendere il Reich derivò dal maggiore Hajo Hermann.
L'idea era quella di impiegare caccia monomotori del tipo Bf 109 G-6 ed Fw 190 tipo A-8 per la caccia notturna.
Essi venivano diretti verso i bombardieri i quali illuminati dai riflettori della Flak, divenivano facile preda dei caccia.

Dopo alcune positive prove con aerei sperimentali, il maggiore Hermann fonda lo JagdGeshwadern 300 il 26 giugno 1943.
Questo tipo di caccia venne chiamato "Wilde Sau" o 'Cinghiale Selvaggio' perchè la tattica di questo animale è quella di creare scompiglio negli avversari, ma i caccia monomotori crearono meno scompiglio ai bombardieri poichè durente le azioni, era difficile per il pilota poter seguire gli strumenti e il distinguere tra amici e nemici era molto, molto difficile.
Le difficoltà del volo strumentale provocarono molti incidenti anche nelle normali manovre di atterraggio e molti piloti rimasero uccisi per questi incidenti. A seguito proprio di queste disavventure, la Wilde Sau tornò alle operazioni diurne.

The Wilde Sau
One of the many studied ideas in order to defend the Reich derived from the Major Hajo Hermann. The idea was that to employ the single-engine aircraft of the type Bf 109 G-6 and Fw 190 A-8, for the nocturnal hunting. They came directed towards the bombers which, it illuminates from the reflectors of the Flak, became easy prey of the hunting. After some positive tests with airplane, the Major Hermann found the JagdGeshwadern 300 on the 26 june 1943. This type of hunting came called Wilde Sau or 'Wild Boar' why the tactics of this animal is that to create disorder in the adversaries, but the hunting single-engine created little disorder to the bombers that during the actions, was difficult for the pilot to be able to control the instruments and distinguishing between friends and enemies was a lot, much difficult. The difficulties of the IFR flight provoked many incidents also in the normal maneuvers of landing and many pilots remained killed for these incidents. To continuation just of these disavventure, the Wilde Sau returned to the diurnal operations.
