Nell'ottobre 1950 la Victorious entrò nell'Arsenale di Portsmouth per lavori di rimodernamento che durarono fino all'ottobre del 1958.
L'unità ne uscì praticamente ricostruita, con un ponte di volo angolato di 8° 45', ottenuto applicando sulla sinistra un allargamento di 12,50 metri per una lunghezza di 36,50 metri sostenuto da apposti mensoloni, il cui peso era bilanciato da quello dell'isola spostata esternamente allo scafo sul lato destro.
Nella zona di prua del ponte rettilineo furono sistemate due catapulte a vapore, gli elevatori rimasero due, circa nella posizione che avevano precedentemente, ma rinforzati, ingranditi e con maggior capacità di sollevamento.
L'isola fu un poco ingrandita e fornita di un albero a traliccio per le antenne dei radar, inoltre sul tetto della plancia fu sistemata una gigantesca antenna per un radar di ricerca.
Il ponte di volo fu fornito di apparato a specchi per la guida all'appontaggio e di apparecchiature di arresto più potenti.
Dopo tali modifiche l'immersione aumentò di circa 30 cm. ed il dislocamento passò da 29.110 tonnellate a 37.000 tonnellate.
L'apparato motore non fu modificato, ma le caldaie furono sostituite con altre più moderne; la potenza rimase di 110.000 cavalli e la velocità di 31 nodi.
L'armamento fu sostituito così che risultò composto da 12 cannoni da 76 mm. a.a di costruzione americana, sistemati in postazioni binate ai due lati del ponte di volo, di cui 2 erano a proravia dell'allargamento del ponte di volo e 4 nella zona a poppiera.
Sul lato destro a poppavia dell'isola, fu installata una postazione a 6 canne di mitragliere da 40 mm.
Era prevista anche l'installazione di lanciamissili, che non furono poi imbarcati.
L'unità così ricostruita è rimasta in servizio più a lungo delle altre 3 non modificate.

After such changes the immersion increased of around 30 cms. and the displacement passed from 29.110 tons to 37.000 tons.
The apparatus motor was not modified, but the boilers were sostiuite with others more modern; the power remained of 110.000 horses and the speed of 31 knots.
The armament was sostiuito so that it resulted composed by 12 guns by 76 mms. a.a of American construction, systematized in postings binate to the two sides of the bridge of flight, of which 2 were to proravia of the widening of the bridge of flight and 4 in the zone to poppiera.
On the right side to poppavia of the island, a posting was installed to 6 reeds of gunner from 40 mms.
It was anticipated also the installation of lanciamissili, that were not embarked then.
The unity so reconstructed you/he/she has remained for a longer time on call some others 3 not modified.
