Sanjusangendo:
in this Kyoto temple 1001 wooden statues of Kannon Bodhisattva are
lined up. the pavillion, built in XII sec. A.D. is 118 (390') meters
long and 18 m (59') wide. Each statue is 1.65 m (5' 5") tall.
The statues in the first row represent various gods (beauty, wisdom,
prosperity, etc.) |
