La Carraia enjoys a beautiful location in the Umbrian countryside, situated between olive groves, vineyards and cypress trees with views towards the Apennine mountains and lake Corbara. Although the house is attached to another property, it is approached via its own private drive. La Carraia is itself divided into two with the owner, who lives in Rome, retaining a small apartment for his own very occasional use. The spacious living accommodations with large windows and French doors leads on to a covered terrace overlooking the garden. Doors from the kitchen lead to a further patio area. A converted stable next to the swimming pool is equipped with table tennis and barbecue oven and creates a shady corner for lunch or dinner. A new kitchen and refurbished bathrooms have been completed for 2001. La Carraia is still active as a farm, producing excellent olive oil and wine which guests are able to purchase. The two storey house is approached by a well maintained unmade road about 1 kilometre from the asphalt road which links to Orvieto with Civita di Bagnoregio, a beautiful, medieval village which has become a national monument. Just 10 minutes from Orvieto junction of the autostrada, La Carraia is served by shopping facilities in Porano and Canale as well as a large supermarket in Orvieto Scalo. The house is ideally situated for excursions including Lake Bolsena where are many good fish restaurants.
