Crustacea, Isopoda, Trichoniscidae - Trichoniscus voltai Arcangeli, 1948 - Terrestrial crustacean well adapted to the hypogean environment. It is mainly phytosaprophage and usually it's possible to find it on vegetable debris. In the Bear Cave, it is relatively rare and we an find it exclusively on very humid wood pieces. In the Bossea Cave, other cavity where it live, the author found specimens of this little crustacean on the remainig of old wood ladders in the "Galleria delle Meraviglie" (Marvels gallery), more than 1300 m far from the entrance of the cave. Real size: 3÷3,5 mm.
