Concretions

Visiting the caves we can

appreciate the way in which

the nature has worked

during the millenia, depositing,

drop after drop,

opalescent wonders

of crystal that generate

respect for their

marvellous perfection.

The calcite, under the push of

inner forces linked to the

systems of crystallization,

assumes unusual shapes,

like this arrow point,

photographed in the high

branches of the Bossea Cave.

The eye of the naturalist,

accustomed to discern the

characteristic shapes that the

animals assume in nature,

often attributes to inanimate

objects shapes that

remember living beings.

Therefore this spectacular

eccentric in the high

branches of Bossea, near the

"Laghi pensili", ("hanging lakes")

remembers singularly

the shape of a Hippocampus

that swims in this fantastic

sea of stone and crystals

that has been molded by the water

with a millenarian work.
