Chordata

, Chiroptera![]()

Mammalia, Chiroptera, Vespertilionidae,
in the Po Valley. The author observed in this cave dozens of these Chiroptera during a single visit, typically clinged on the walls with the claws of the back legs and those ones of the wings. This particular rest position distinguishes them from the Rinolophidae
and other bats that instead hang up only with the back legs. A morphological feature of this species are the outer ear which inner lobes are joined on the forehead of the animal; another feature is the "trago", a cartilaginous appendage situated in the centre of the auricle that in this species is particularly lengthened and developed. Further in the Po Valley, this Chiroptera is citated also in other Cuneese cavities, like the Bandit Caves
. The author has recently observed (nov. 2000), this bat also in the middle Maira Valley, in militar subterranean, where he has photographed the specimen in the photos.
