The Witches Cave of Sambughetto
is renowned from time immemorial to the local inhabitants and during the latter 50 years has been object of defacement by means of a marble mine that dissect it in different parts. It has also been plundered by unscrupulous collectors that took away and dispersed great quantities of fossil bones found in this cave. The cave has been visited several time by the author, but its fauna is very scarce. Besides Oxychilus mortilleti
and Trechus sp. nearby the entrance, in the inner parts has been found Crustacea Isopoda, Alpioniscus cfr. feneriensis and a single specimen of Diplopoda Craspedosomatidae.BIBLIOGRAPHY |
