  • After defeating many of Duloc's knights in a tournament, Shrek and Farquaad reach a bargain wherein Farquaad agrees to remove the creatures if Shrek rescues and brings to him Princess Fiona, a princess who is imprisoned in a castle guarded by a dragon, awaiting the knight who will rescue her.

  • After many (mis)adventures in which Shrek is consistently irritated by the friendly but overly talkative Donkey, Shrek and Donkey manage to reach the dragon's castle (the dragon is a red-violet dragon with a pair of fin like ears, white spiked cheeks, and enormous folding wings).

  • Just as Dragon is about to Donkey, Shrek knocks him out of her coils, and she kisses Shrek's butt instead; in a rage, she chases them through the castle.

  • [] Parodies and jokes The castle in Duloc is an obvious parody of, complete with a box office, turnstiles and ropes for queueing up patrons seeking admittance.

  • It has also been suggested that the castle resembles the Hesburg Library at the, which many of the film's animators attended.

  • As one of the windows of the castle comes slowly closer, it dissolves into the mirror in the Queen's chamber.

  • He climbs the castle wall, is first sighted in the well water's reflection, and helps her finish her song, singing the echo to "Today." Startled and frightened, and shy and embarrassed by her appearance, she quickly runs into the castle to hide.

  • Poll: Final Poll Toon Zone Thanks for Visiting! Serving the Toon Community since August of 1998 Site Announcements: :: :: :: > - "Howl’s Moving Castle": Home is Where You Park it "Howl’s Moving Castle": Home is Where You Park it By Desslar 03-23-2006, 12:09 AM Hayao Miyazaki set the bar perilously high for himself with 2002’s Spirited Away , winning an Academy Award and setting a Japanese box office record.

  • The much anticipated Howl’s Moving Castle doesn’t quite measure up, but engineers a rousing fantasy adventure in the classic Miyazaki mold.

  • The charismatic stranger intrigues Sophie, but her sister Lettie is concerned it might have been the legendary Howl, who roams the countryside in his giant lumbering castle reportedly devouring women’s hearts.

  • At a loss, Sophie sets off into the wilderness in search of Howl’s castle, and eventually stumbling upon it she busies herself cleaning its dilapidated interior.

  • The castle itself is a CGI beast, part WWI battleship and part chicken, somewhat diminishing its organic charm.

  • However the way in which the castle’s door serves as a portal to various locations is a unique visual conceit.

  • Howl’s Moving Castle is another reliably entertaining and pretty Miyazaki film, but, as the Academy recently indicated, not quite one of his classic works.

  • The burning question in my mind is how Disney might incorporate the castle into Disneyworld.
