Devastated Robbie Williams yesterday paid a
touching tribute to leukaemia victim Johanna MacVicar. Johanna and the Rock DJ
star became firm friends after meeting in Glasgow five years ago. The
27-year-old passed away at home in Bishopton, Renfrewshire, earlier this week.
Robbie said: 'Johanna was so beautiful, so smart, so funny, so classy and had so
much life. 'I expected her to be around forever; distance and time robbed me of
a friend.
'Johanna will always remain an inspiration. My thoughts are with her mum,
sisters, family and friends.'
Johanna and Robbie met at a concert and he immediately signed up to the Anthony
Nolan bone marrow register. In2001, they met again to launch a campaign urging
more donors to come forward. Robbie also gave Johanna his shirt to auction to
raise money for leukaemia suffers. Johanna spent the 11 years after being
diagnosed with myeloid leukaemia fundraising to fight the disease.
She devoted much of her time to the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust, who match
donors with leukaemia victims needing life-saving transplants. Through her work
she made friends with many stars, including Mission Impossible star Dougray Scot,
former footballer Ally McCoist and Rangers boss Alex McLeish. Despite having a
rare tissue type, doctors did manage to find a bone marrow donor who was a close
match. But her body rejected the transplant But Johanna never lost her lust for
life. In 1998, she sky-dived 14,000ft to raise cash for the charity accompanied
by the Daily Record. She also fitted in a back-packing trip around the world.
Johanna's funeral will be at 9am at Paisley Abbey today and will be followed by
a private cremation service.
The funeral was switched to a larger venue because of the number of people who
wanted to pay their respects.

Bosses at Madame Tussaud's are expecting long
queues in May as a new 'kissable' waxwork of Robbie Williams is unveiled. An
ordinary statue of the ex-Take That singer already stands at the world's most
famous waxwork museum, which also houses models of Kylie, the royal family and
David Beckham, but fans are not usually allowed to touch the models.
A spokeswoman for the museum indicated that fans often ask to get closer to the
waxwork and now they will be able to. When the model's cheek is kissed, his eyes
start to twinkle. If the kiss is very good, a rendition of She's the One plays
and the kisser's image is projected onto a giant plasma screen. The spokeswoman
told the Daily Star: "Now the long wait is over. We've made a new figure you can
really get cheek to cheek with"
Fans will be able to visit the new waxwork from May 25th.

There was a friendly atmosphere in Las Vegas
at the weekend after two of America's favourite TV stars jetted into town for a
glitzy party. Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry were both in attendance when the
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino celebrated its tenth anniversary with a
characteristically lavish bash in the heart of Sin City.
The two Friends stars weren't the only ones bringing a bit of A-list glamour to
the event, because English crooner Robbie Williams was also joining in the fun.
He and his fellow performers were treated to a posh dinner at the hotel's Nobu
restaurant, before British rockers Coldplay gave a performance.
