News of February 2004 25/02/04 Guest of honour at Robbie
Williams's 30th birthday party is the baddie in the current series of cult TV
show 24. Robbie invited Greg Ellis to Nobu in Los Angeles for his celebratory
meal last week. The Wigan-born actor - who plays Michael Amador opposite Kiefer
Sutherland in the third series of 24 - lives in LA and has become good pals with
the singer.
22/02/04 King Of
The Brits Robbie Williams spent the big night texting Irish singer Samantha
Numba asking for a date. Robbie — who has won a record 13 awards — has been
bombarding the sexy star with messages since they met in LA two weeks ago. He
has also been wooing her from his California pad by sending expensive bunches of
flowers. But Robbie should watch his back, Samantha is dating Brian “Basco”
Casey of four-piece US vocal group Jagged Edge. And I’m told he’s quite tough.
Samantha — who was recently dropped by her record label Polydor — has so far
turned down Robbie’s advances. He is taking time out after his mammoth world
tour and she is in the States trying to launch an acting career. She made her
debut in 2002’s The Time Machine, with former Neighbours heart-throb Guy Pearce.
A source close to Samantha told me: “Sam and Robbie just clicked as soon as they
met. They got on like a house on fire. “They swopped numbers and Robbie has been
texting her ever since. He keeps asking her out but she has politely said no.
“She’s happy with her American boyfriend Brian. But Samantha’s very flattered.
Robbie is one of the world’s most eligible bachelors.” Robbie was missing from
Tuesday’s Brits for the first time in years. He had not received a single
nomination. The superstar failed to impress the judges despite three summer gigs
at Knebworth where he played to a total of 375,000 fans. Robbie has made the
Brits his own in the past as he built up his collection of gongs, some of which
he won with boy band Take That.
