The main goal of the Phophonix Society is to develop its own activity cooperating in strict contact with the public administration, with other cultural communities as well as with private partners.
The development of a network of stable relations between public and private cultural operators, the interaction with scholastic and formative institutions together with a mutual exchange among the artists of different disciplines, these are the main features of a fertile ground on which the seeds for a new concept of Art and Culture have been laid.
An extremely open concept freed from any sort of conditioning, restraint and convention, conceived not just for the practise and benefit of a restricted group of skilled professional operators but a "new Art" that the whole community may be able to feel as its own expression.
To achieve this aim and for all the related activities the Society will have the contribution of musicians, writers, scholars and music promoters and will lay emphasis on the special importance
of collecting all available aural, visual and publishing documents illustrating the current experience.

Here are some of the proposals:
School:
single or periodic meetings with teachers and students having as possible subjects the following items:
- The evolution of Jazz
- Improvisation
- Jazz and literature
- Jazz and cinema
- Music and games

The meetings will have a lecture form and will comprise also audiovisual support, performances and live work-sessions.
Music schools:
meetings with students on subjects such as theory , improvisation and music in general as well as practical exercitations.
Local institutions and cultural associations:
- relations with local communities and their cultural expressions (libraries, cultural groups)
- exploration and diffusion of the historical, cultural and artistic heritage through specific projects
- contacts with the established local musical organisations such as fanfares and choirs finalized to develop cooperation and promotion with the purpose of creating interactive projects and popular teaching activities

The program of the Phophonix Society includes:
The realization and consolidation of a repertoire; events of improvising sessions; concert happenings and the organization of a special meeting aimed to promote, experience and popularize the activities achieved by big bands performing mainly improvised music.
This Event , a sort of Festival, will take place in Udine every year and will gather national and international ensembles somehow similar in the character to the Phophonix band.
Meetings with musicians and composers working in orchestral environements; lectures and conferences with critics and musicologists; the realization and publication of a catalogue assembling all available audio-visual mediums illustrating the singular yearly "Festival" event.
As a matter of fact the Society intends to fulfill the need for a discographic label covering the regional improvisation-dedicated hinterland, a definite label conceived with the aim of promoting unisonance and recognition to the works of numerous musicians so far scattered through various editions with neither a clear outlook nor a common denominator.
The Society will therefore promote its catalogue of discographic works.
