Installing Gentoo on a Mac G3
Well, I now have Bast, my new Mac G3, booting under its own power. It took a bit more work than normal because I ran into a few problems. But its all up and running now, so let’s go over the install. Bast came with MacOS 9 installed.

imac g3 new hd problem
i just put in a maxtor 20gb hd into my imac g3 (rev a bondi blue). i went to install panther. it goes through the entire process, restarts and goes to install the same thing again, but it cant detect the hard drive. is it not compatible
