Marco Gui is an assistant professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca, where he obtained a PhD in New media Sociology. He is author of more than 30 scientific publications on national and international journals and of three books. His major field of investigation concerns the social and individual differences in the use of the Internet. In particular he worked on the concept and measurement of "digital skills" as one of the main dimensions of "digital inequality". He has developed an internationally recognized method for measuring differences in digital skills among high school students (Gui and Argentin, 2011; Pagani, Gui et al., 2016). In this field, he has leaded research projects funded by national and regional administrations such as the Ministry of Education, Lombardy Region, Valle D'aosta Region, INVALSI. He was also funded by Fastweb S.p.A., one of the largest telecommunication companies in Italy. He is also part of the “Observational/Log Data Methods Working Group”, headed by prof. Eszter Hargittai, an international research group focused on methodologies to directly observe youth online practises (see http://dmlcentral.net/projects/4173). He has been a reviewer for the journals "Learning, Media and Technology", "Information, Communication and Society" "New Media and Society", "Developmental Psychology". A second field of analysis is aimed at investigating the relationship between media consumption and ex-post satisfaction. Together with a multidisciplinary team, he had carried out a laboratory research funded by the University of Milano Bicocca and whose results have been published in the Journal of Media Economics (see here). He has recently published the book "A dieta di media. Comunicazione e qualità della vita", edito da il Mulino, in which problems of media users in facing communication overabundance are discussed (see here). Before his academic life he had professional experiences in company communication, eLearning and web projects. He worked at the External Relations Office of Barilla S.p.A. and at the eLearning Office of the University of Padua. In 2005, together with Stefano Karadjov, he has started the Soundtouring project, for which he is in charge of texts writing. From 2008 Soundtouring is registered trademark active in the italian touristic e-content market.
