The 3 assembler source of Reader are here to be downloaded. They are free for personal use but actually they are not GPL.
The cable needed is simple: connect PC ground of paralel port to ground of Tape, and Read of Tape to xxx (I don't remember, just look to source of what pin of parallel port it is connected). Note that even the tape motor was thouk to be controlled by the programs, I never add that features, because I can read the tapes however.
