1 - Traversata da Ceriale a Pietra

Percorso
Si parte all'inizio di Ceriale, lato Savona, e ci si dirige verso Albenga.
Prestare attenzione all'indicazione a destra per il cimitero che si incontra dopo qualche centinaio di metri.
Si sale per la ripida stradina. Superato il cimitero si va a destra al bivio e si procede in piano fino ad una casa (segnavia FIE quadrato rosso). La strada si sterra tra gli ulivi.
Si procede quasi in piano sulla stradina che diviene sentiero stretto fino a raggiungere una valletta dove si incontra una strada sterrata.
Siamo entrati nel parco della villa abbandonata. Salire sulla strada ed andare a sinistra all'incrocio, poi a destra.
Dovreste arrivare ad un laghetto (km 1,7). La strada lo costeggia e poi inizia a salire portandosi fuori dal bosco.
La salita conduce ad un bivio. Due possibilità:
  1. Si prosegue diritti. Percorso più ripido, più breve, con fondo migliore, tutto al sole.
  2. Si segue il tornante a destra. Meno ripido ma con fondo fortemente sconnesso che lo rende molto impegnativo.
Al termine della salita si arriva su un panoramico poggio (monte Picaro; km 3,5; cappella poco distante) da dove si possono ammirare le distese di cemento di Loano e di Ceriale.
Si prosegue a destra del poggetto con antenne. Il resto del percorso si mantiene a mezza costa attraversando il versante nord orientale del monte Croce.
Gli arbusti di erica arborea e di ginestra risultano particolarmente molesti in questo tratto.
Il sentiero conduce ad una ripida discesa resa ancor più difficile dalla presenza di pietre smosse.
Si scende a tornanti su fondo in peggioramento fino ad arrivare a dei ruderi su un ripiano.
Si scende a sinistra fino a trovare una vecchia mulattiera che scende sulla massima pendenza, ma con fondo un po' migliore.
Superato un tratto infrascato da rovi si arriva finalmente sulla strada statale (km 6).
Si svolta a sinistra e si raggiunge Toirano; si attraversa il centro storico e si prosegue sulla statale fino al bivio per Boissano.
Si svolta e si raggiunge questo paese. E' necessario raggiungere la strada che contorna a monte le varie frazioni proseguendo fino a Losano (km 12).
Qui si abbandona la strada che inizia a scendere e ci si inerpica tra le ville seguendo una ripida stradina che conduce al termine del paese (12,2 siamo in via Pineta Marini).
La strada prosegue sterrata, prevalentemente in salita. Raggiunto il culmine si scende leggermente e si trascura la stradina che sale di fronte. Si scende ripidamente a destra contornando una valletta ed arrivando così ad una sbarra dove troviamo l'asfalto.
Si sale a sinistra raggiungendo una chiesetta (S.Libera; km 15).
Si prosegue prestando attenzione prechè occorre andare a sinistra al primo bivio.
Questa strada prosegue quasi pianeggiante (trascurare le numerose deviazioni) e conduce ad una ripida discesa asfaltata. Scendendo si arriva ad un ponte ed alle case di Verzi (km 16,8).
Si svolta a sinistra nella strada principale del paese salendo alla chiesa, che si lascia a destra.
Qui si trova la segnaletica per il rifugio CAI e per la Rocca dell'Aia. Noi andiamo a destra sulla strada che sale ripida ma asfaltata.
Dopo due chilometri si incontra a sinistra un osservatorio astronomico e subito dopo una strada che devia a destra.
Occorre prenderla per raggiungere una confluenza in un'altra strada (km 20).
Andando a sinistra si raggiunge un colletto e la strada scende a Giustenice.
Noi invece andiamo a destra. La strada è larga (grande traffico di auto di cacciatori quando è stagione)e prosegue in leggera discesa fino ad una stretta (a destra, sul poggio, la chiesetta di S.Martino).
Un tratto più ripido scende ad una selletta poi si prosegue in piano fino ad un bivio. Qui si può seguire la strada a sinistra in leggera discesa. Noi però andiamo a destra in salita (segnavia FIE triangolo rosso).
La salita termina ed la discesa seguente conduce su una più ampia sterrata.
Si svolta a sinistra e si scende senza altri problemi. La sterrata diviene asflatata e porta a Ranzi (km 25).
Di qui no resta che scendere su asflato fino a Pietra (km 29,5).
Dislivello: 950 m.
Ciclabilità: 97%
Osservazioni: Mi è risultato un percorso complesso e disomogeneo, con troppo asfalto ed una parte iniziale molto difficile. Pazienza. Potrete sempre introdurre qualche variante.

2 - Ascent to  Colle del Melogno from Pietra Ligure

Run.
From the center of Pietra we go up again toward Tovo coasting along, on the right shore, the stream.
At the fork we leave the principal road that continues for Tovo to go to the left toward Giustenice (indications, km 1.2. If it is followed the road in left bank it is necessary to turn to the left where this finishes and to return a little back).
We pass under the bridge of the highway and we continue on the principal road that starts to climb with some windings.
At the intersections we follow for S.Lorenzo. Reached this country we continue passing in front of the church in steep slope. The road continues still asphalted for three kilometers, then it continues dirt with constant inclination up to the Giogo of Giustenice (km 15.5).
The only fork of relief in this stretch is met to the kilometer 11.8 where the AV is met and where we go to the left.
We go down from the opposite part of the Giogo doing attention to a small road that it gets further to the right after 400 meters in descent.
We follow it (trail sign FIE: yellow triangle), first in slope and then in descent, until it meets in a great dirt road (km 17,5; cars!) that we will follow to the right until almost to the Melogno.
The road continues with some latches in different environments (that from the wood of beech trees go to the calcareous rocks) arriving to a square where a small house rises (km 21.5).
We take the road in plain to the left that it reaches a gate and then it goes down to the Melogno (km 24.5).
Gradient:   1200 ms.

3 - Ascent from Toirano to Poggio Ceresa

Description.
From the center of Toirano we reach the intersection among the road that climbs to the Yoke of Toirano and that that it goes to Balestrino.
We direct toward Balestrino and we climb following the provincial road up to the houses of Barescione (km 0,6). We go down to the left here for following the paved trail that it crosses the suburb. We continue then in slope and we arrive near the provincial road.
Without reaching it we turn to the left. A short descent brings us at the end of the asphalt (km 1,2). We continue in plain among the ulivis and we arrive to a ford. Beyond the stream the road it begins to climb and we reach a house (km 2,3).
To the left the house climbs a hold narrow road, to the beginning in concrete. We climb alternating non cycle tracts to others level and we finally go down to an ancient bridge (bridge de'là Utra; km 3,4).
After the bridge the mule-track climbs steep and not cycle for two hundred meters, meet then a road that we follow to the right. We arrive to an ampler road where we neglect the signaling for Balestrino and we turn to the left. An ample road climbs to turns among the ulivis, it reaches an intersection where we find the asphalt and where we climb to the left.
We get over the cemetery and we arrive on the provincial road (km 5,8).
We have to follow the provincial road to a pass (km 11) where we turn to the left (indications for the sanctuary).
After 250 meters the road becomes dirt and it continues in light slope up to the sacred zone (km 13).
We leave to the left the enclosure and we continue to the right on dirt level road. Gone out of the wood the panorama it starts to widen itself. The road goes down with some windings and reaches a saddle, then it goes up again to go out in peak to the knoll Ceresa (km 15,6; chapel and spar).

Observations: unfortunately has a long tract on asphalt road.

4 - Discesa dal rifugio Pian delle Bosse a Pietra L.

Descrizione.
Prendiamo il largo sentiero che scende dietro al rifugio e supera un rivo. Scendiamo attraversando alcuni prati e lasciamo a destra la traccia per il Giogo di Giustenice.
La discesa si fa piuttosto ripida ma non difficile ed arriviamo ad un marcato bivio nel bosco (km 0,9) con indicazioni scritte su di una pietra. Svoltiamo a sinistra (indicazione Pietra). Il sentiero è inizialmente quasi pianeggiante poi scende allargandosi a mulattiera.
Arriviamo alla confluenza con una larga strada (km 1,9) in corrispondenza di un quadrivio (vedi schizzo).
La strada a destra conduce a Loano, a sinistra a Pietra. Noi svoltiamo a destra ed immediatamente a sinistra (segnavia FIE: triangolo rosso).
Dopo alcune centinaia di metri il sentiero svolta a destra ed inizia a scendere con tratti ripidi e dissestati. Passiamo nei pressi di alcune case e raggiugiamo una larga strada sterrata (km 2,9). A destra si raggiungerebbe l'itinerario 1, invece svoltiamo a sinistra ed iniziamo a scendere.
La comoda discesa porta alle case di Valsorda (km 4,3) dove troviamo la strada asfaltata che seguiamo fino al fondovalle.
In località Pianazzo (km 7) entriamo sulla strada principale che seguiamo a sinistra fino a Pietra (km 10,8).
Dislivello: 850 m.
Ciclabilità: 98%
Osservazioni: non ciclabile in salita. Il rifugio è del CAI Loano ed è normalmente chiuso.

5 - Salita al rifugio Pian delle Bosse da Loano

Descrizione.
Da Loano, 300 metri dopo il primo semaforo verso Savona (km 0), svoltiamo a destra in una stradina con indicazioni per Verzi.
Proseguendo arriviamo ad incrociare la strada principale che sale dal centro di Loano (km 1,7). Svoltiamo a destra e proseguiamo arrivando a Verzi, incrociamo l'archivolto da cui arriva l'itinerario 1 (km 4) e proseguiamo la salita raggiungendo la chiesa.
Continuiamo la salita in comune con l'itinerario 1. Guadagnamo quota con pendenza costante ed arriviamo al bivio con la strada dove l'itinerario 1 va a destra (km 6,1).
Proseguiamo diritti. Dopo un chilometro la strada diventa sterrata e continua a salire. Raggiungiamo il parcheggio dove la strada ha termine (km 8,5).
Prendiamo la strada forestale che sale a destra e la seguiamo per 100 metri, poi svoltiamo a destra in un evidente sentiero tra i cespugli.
Con salita difficile e lunghi tratti non ciclabili saliamo andando a sinistra all'unico bivio. La faticosa salita esce dal bosco in corrispondenza del bivio del sentiero delle Terre Alte. Proseguiamo a sinistra raggiungendo il rifugio (km 9,8).
Dislivello: 830 m.
Ciclabilità: 92%
Osservazioni: salita monotona e faticosa. Penso che il modo migliore per salire al rifugio sia quello di salire da Ranzi seguendo l'itinerario 1 al contrario fino a confluire in questo percorso (al km 6,1) e proseguire con questo.

6 - Descent from Giogo di Toirano to Toirano

Description.
From Giogo di Toirano we go down toward the sea. We neglect the road crossed by the following itinerary and we continue until we see to the left the trail sign FIE red rhomb that it points out a dual track that enters the wood (km 0,6).
Shortly after the narrow road finishes. We take to the right the path that it crosses a tract with numerous branches to earth and then leads us to a shoulder (km 1,5) where it arrives a road from right.
On the left we follow the path that starts to go down steep. The first windings are the more difficulties, then the path widens and betters.
We reach the stream (km 2,1), generally dry. The descent continues sustained to a bridge (km 2,8).
With less steep course we continue the descent and we reach a pipe of the aqueduct (km 4,2).
Now the run becomes easy and we goes down on the narrow road of the hydraulic work up to reach the national road in place Jump of the Wolf (km 5,3).
We follow the asphalt road and we quickly reach Toirano (km 9).
Gradient: 750 ms.
On saddle: 98%
Observations: not cycle in slope. Currently there are works of substitution of the pipelines of the aqueduct which it makes no cycle the lower part. I have not kept in mind of it in the percentage of cycle.

7 - Descent from Giogo di Toirano to Boissano

Description.
From Giogo di Toirano we go down toward the sea. At the first winding we leave the asphalt road and we take the dirt one.
We continue with pleasant run and we reach a square equipped for picnic. We continue for around 150 meters and we left the road (what it finishes shortly after) to climb to the left (km 3,3) on a mule-track that it coasts along the pipelines of an aqueduct (trail sign FIE: red triangle and red equal).
We follow an a little cycle path that rises and descents following the orography, always beside the pipelines. We finally reach a saddle where we turn to the right and we go out on the lawns near the church of S.Pietro of the Mountains (km 5).
The thick construction is situated in splendid panoramic position.
From the church we go down near the poles of the cableway. We absolutely owe to find the trail sign FIE (equal red) because all around they fall vertical walls.
We pass under the great cross and we begin the hard descent.
With narrow windings, on ground sometimes rocky sometimes paved, we fall downstream. Under of us the parking lot of the caves of Toirano seems near (but it is not). The run can be frightening but it is not really exposed.
At the end of the windings the path goes down in diagonal toward left and leads on the opposite slope where we find again one of the pipelines of the aqueduct. With easier course we arrive to some lawns (km 7) in a thin pinewood.
Here the path fades (you see note). We try to follow the trail sign that goes down toward left. After 200 meters let's leave it when it goes down in a valley and we continue on height arriving to a small shelter where we also find the pipeline of the aqueduct.
We follow the trail sign FIE (red X) in descent and we quickly arrive to the church of S.Pietrino (km 7,7).
In front of the church departs a mule-track with the two trail signs FIE (red X and equal).
The descent is less difficulty of that initial but it maintains its binding. We lose height with diagonals and windings. Finally the ground of the mule-track does good and we arrives to cross an asphalt road (km 9,1).
We cross the road and we continue in steep concrete descent that leads to the houses. At the intersections we hold the right trying to reach the visible church of Boissano.
Without difficulty we arrive on the square (km 9,6).
Gradient: in slope 230 ms, in descent 950 ms
On saddle: 85%
Observations: binding and difficult. Not cycle in slope.
Note: in case of difficulty of orientation remembered that it is necessary to go to the left without climbing but also without going down too much. Going to the left we will find always the pipeline of the water that we have coasted along on the path; follow you it in descent up to the shelter.
