1 dicembre - Iniziamo il nuovo mese con una notizia relativa alla lavorazione del film con Kim ed Eminem: "Eminem Movie Fanning the Flames. Note to Universal: Don't let Eminem do a cover of "Burnin' Down the House" for the soundtrack to his upcoming semi-autobiographical movie. That might just push some Detroit surburbanites over the edge. The always-controversial Slim Shady is feeling the heat from residents of Highland Park, Michigan, who are upset with producers' plans to torch three vacant homes in the neighborhood for a scene in his flick, which is currently being filmed there. More than 50 protesters, including members of Highland Park City Council and the president of the Detroit chapter of the NAACP, held a rally on Tuesday, giving speeches opposing the fires and bitterly complaining that the movie shoot was causing havoc among the people who live in the financially strapped community, according to news reports from the Motor City. Locals organized the march following an emergency session by the city council during which citizens voiced their concerns and filmmakers defended the production. During the meeting, many locals argued that the homes scheduled to be burned as part of filming on December 7 and 8 were rumored to be portrayed as "crack houses" in the movie and could land the neighborhood a bad reputation. Other protesters said the demolition would set a bad example for neighborhood kids. "Eminem (news - web sites) is a rapper that the children emulate," City Councilman Earl O. Wheeler Jr. told the Detroit News. "We don't want the children to emulate burning down houses." An NAACP rep said that intentionally setting fire to the buildings was tacky in light of several recent arsons in the area. For their part, producers said the fires were integral to the movie. "The scene is important to our movie because of an epiphany experienced by the character played by Marshall Mathers," producer Carol Fenolon said. In the film, the abandoned house is torched by a Detroit gang. Eminem goes inside the home, discovers photos of his family and decides to turn over a new leaf. "This is a really serious film. It's really not just a Hollywood hip-hop flick.". The filmmakers said Highland Park would not be mentioned in the film. The producers also said they've done everything in their power to compensate the community for any inconveniences. Additionally, Universal Pictures has agreed to donate $2,000 to a local charity and have Eminem lecture high school students. Tuesday's complaints were the latest spurred by the film. For weeks residents have been griping about the chaos the shooting is causing in the community, including blocked streets and cordoned-off areas that have disrupted school bus routes. Not everybody in the neighborhood is miffed over the movie. Highland Park's emergency financial manager, Ramona Henderson Pearson, defended her decision to let Universal Studios burn away, arguing that the properties in question are "unfixable" and have been condemned. And in a neighborhood filled with 1,600 vacant buildings, razing two homes for future development would be a boon to the community, she said. Despite the city council's 4-0 resolution against the planned burn, Pearson has the final say--and she has indicated that filming will go on as scheduled. "Highland Park's finances are more of a horror story than the story the film might tell," she says in the Detroit Free Press. The still-untitled film, directed by Curtis Hanson (Wonder Boys, L.A. Confidential) stars Eminem as a troubled youth from a rough Detroit neighborhood who learns to channel his rage into raps that make him an international music superstar. 14 dicembre - Il film con Kim ed Eminem ha di nuovo cambiato titolo: il produttore del film, Brian Grazer, in un'intervista a "Tv Guide" ha affermato che il nuovo titolo è "8 MILE", che richiama la famosa "8 MILE ROAD" di Detroit, la quale segna il confine tra la città bianca e la città nera.

18 dicembre - Da venerdì prossimo il trailer di "8 Mile" arriva nelle sale americane: "Trailer For Eminem Movie '8 Mile' Hits Theaters Friday - (12/18/01, 1 p.m. ET) -- Theatergoers will get a first look at how Eminem is faring in his first starring movie role when the trailer for 8 Mile hits theaters on Friday (December 21). Eminem  stars in the drama as a young man searching for his identity within the predominantly black culture of Detroit. Curtis Hanson, director of L.A. Confidential and Wonder Boys, helms the project, which wraps shooting next month. 8 Mile puts Eminem alongside established and up-and-coming actors like Kim Basinger (L.A. Confidential), Mekhi Phifer (O), and Brittany Murphy (Don't Say A Word). 8 Mile producer Brian Grazer recently explained how the project came about, and how the rapper stands up as an actor. "I liked him," Grazer said. "I thought he was charismatic and could act, so I built a story that is, you know, in the world in which he came from--it's not his story. The guy is a workaholic. He did six weeks of rehearsal 'cause Curtis Hanson insisted on it--'cause Curtis Hanson's life's betting on this guy's going to be good--and at night he's trying to make an album. Shooting wraps up on ``8 Mile'' next month, and the pair will have made a film about the city, in the city - a desire they shared for the movie, formerly known as the ``Untitled Detroit Project,'' the Detroit Free Press reported Monday. Moviegoers will find out whether Hanson and Eminem achieve another goal: making a serious drama about a young white man's search for identity in a predominantly black culture. ``The Eminem we're putting on screen is so not the Eminem the public thinks they know,'' said Hanson, who previously directed ``L.A. Confidential'' and ``Wonder Boys.'' ``I don't want to jinx him by comparing him to icons like (Marlon) Brando and (Montgomery) Clift, but the best version of this movie would have the same emotional power as something like 'East of Eden' or 'Splendor in the Grass.''' 21 dicembre - Interessante notizia sul nuovo film di Kim, diffusa da Daniel sul "Kim Basinger Club": "Howard si ispira a Poe. Il regista americano Ron Howard si è ispirato per il suo nuovo film all'opera di Edgar Allan Poe. The Raven, questo il titolo del prossimo lavoro di Howard, è liberamente tratto da Il Corvo, uno dei romanzi più famosi di Poe. Nei ruoli delle protagoniste Kim Basinger e Tracey Ullman che ritornano a lavorare insieme dopo Pret-a-porter di Altman. Ron Howard si è ispirato al poema Il corvo, di Edgar Allan Poe, per il suo prossimo film The Raven interpretato nei ruoli principali da Kim Basinger e Tracey Ullman. E' abbastanza singolare l'accostamento del cineasta americano all'opera del romanziere Poe; autore di film come American Graffiti, Cuori ribelli e Il Grinch, Howard non è mai stato incline fino ad ora a trovare ispirazione da grandi opere letterarie. Il poema di Poe, Il Corvo è stato scritto da Poe nel 1845 e parla dell'ossessione e della depressione causata dalla perdita di una persona amata. The movie star and estranged wife Kim Basinger met up for a church reconciliation in Woodland Hills, California, on December 2nd and spent two hours after the service begging her to take him back, according to eye witnesses. They're so not, actually. If they were, I would go, 'I don't know.' But they're actually not.".
	Eminem's ex ready to fight Basinger: "Eminem's ex-wife Kim Mathers is seeing red over reports the rapper has fallen for Kim Basinger - and is ready to fight. According to a friend of Eminem's ex-wife, Kim is getting her claws sharpened for a major catfight. The friend says, "Kim Mathers is on the warpath - and Kim Basinger had better watch out." Ironically, Basinger, 48, plays the mom of 29-year-old Eminem in the Untitled Detroit Project, and while people close to Basinger insist she's not romantically involved with Eminem, his jealous ex- wife wants the rapper back. The friend adds, "Even though Kim filed for divorce earlier this year she still carries a torch for him. 25 dicembre - due interessanti notizie relative a nuovi progetti di Kim:

Kim Basinger and Ryan Phillippe are to star in a TV remake of The Roman Spring Of Mrs Stone. The 1961 original starred Vivien Leigh as an aging actress determined to revive her flagging career in Rome. Instead she finds romance with a gigolo. Director John Boorman wants Oscar-winning Basinger and teen idol Phillippe to take the lead roles in the adaptation of Tennessee Williams' novella. The production, likely to be backed by Home Box Office, will go into production at Ardmore Studios in Dublin later this year.

Martin Sheen and Julie Andrews are being tipped to star in the sequel to Mars Attacks! Reports suggest the pair will play the US president and First Lady. Director Tim Burton is also said to be keen to recruit Cuba Gooding Jr and Kim Basinger for the film. The sequel is scheduled to go into production next summer.

Il film sarà diretto da Ron Howard. Kim Basinger indosserà i panni di una strega nel film tratto dal classico di Edgar Allan Poe "The Raven". Nell'anno di "Harry Potter" anche la protagonista di "9 settimane e 1/2" si è lasciata affascinare dal mondo del fantastico e della magia che ha invaso il grande schermo. L'attrice sarà infatti la protagonista del remake de "I maghi del terrore", pellicola del 1963 diretta da Roger Corman con Vincent Price, Boris Karloff e Jack Nicholson. Dopo i flop di "Sognando l'Africa" e de "La mossa del diavolo", l'attrice torna sul grande schermo diretta da Ron Howard, regista di pellicole come "Apollo 13". Il film sarà ambientato nella Los Angeles dei giorni nostri e racconterà la storia di due streghe che, a suon di poteri magici, si contenderanno l'amore di un produttore televisivo. Accanto all'attrice nel film prodotto dalla Columbia Pictures ci sarà Tracey Ullman, Greg Kinnear, Linda Hunt e Richard E. Grant. La Basinger, dopo la separazione dal marito Alec Baldwin, sta attraversando un periodo felice della sua carriera. L'attrice sta infatti terminando le riprese di "The Untitled Detroit Project", il film autobiografico di Eminem, diretto da Curtis Hanson.
