First route: Sasso Caveoso

This is the classic route to visit Matera: a wonderful walk among houses caved in the rock churches of the Sassi, and to crown it all, a visit to the Cathedral in romanesque - apulian style dating back to the XIIIth century.

You can visit:     San Pietro Caveoso, a typical district of the "Sassi", A typically furnisched old cave, "Santa Lucia alle Malve" rock church, Byzantine churchyard, "Santa Maria de Idris" and "San Giovanni in Monterrone" rock churches, Piazza del Sedile, the Cathedral.

This route lasts about 2 Hours and half
