Some
ways of using apples in the classroom:
- Talk about apples: kinds
(notice also that there are different kinds for cooking and for eating),
where do they grow, when they are mature (some kinds are good to eat
immediately, some can be used during the winter - that's why apples
were so important for the pioneers of America).
- Use apples to introduce/repeat colours,
numbers, and sizes.
-
Cut the apples and teach new words.
-
Use apples to stamp and create pictures.
-
Let the children taste and smell:
different kinds of apples,
apple cider, apple juice, apple cakes, apple marmelade, apple cider vinegar.
Ask the parents to help you find all
the different items.
-
If possible, bake a cake and teach the new words of a recipe, or let
them copy it and try at home!
