The version named "Nikomat" sounds like "Ikomat" and thar is a trademark of Zeiss Ikon Germany.
In Europe, the camera Nikomat could not be sold and so was replaced with the name
"Nikkormat" even in some foreign countries to avoid the problem of trademark
infringement of the Zeiss Ikon. In the past, the name "Nikon" was the source of
a legal claim of the Zeiss Ikon to be used on the bodies of Japanese cameras.
To avoid trouble, it was decided to use the name "Nikkor" and call Nikkormat
everything that in Japan was called "Nikomat"
The Nikomat EL incorporates an electronic vertical shutter blades
that provides automatic exposure of aperture-priority (AE).
The shutter speed goes from 4 seconds to 1/1000.
The whole series has a slide EL flash hot shoe.
Electronic flash synchronization is done on all speeds up to 1/125 sec.
