Arachnida, Acari, Bdellidae,
Rhagidia sp. - It is a species of troglobite specialized mite that has been picked up by the author in only 4 specimens in the years 1998/2000 in the more inner zones of the Bossea Cave, a cavity that has already been object of active biospeleological search in the last century. In this cave was already citated an indeterminate species of Rhagidia, but it is a less specialized Acarus that the author has found in the zone of the cave near the entrance. That one in the photos is another species that live in the inner parts of the cave on the surface of little pools formed by dropping water upon concretions in the higher branches, more than a kilometre far from the entrance. About it's biological features worth the same remarks already exposed for the species living in the Bacardi Abyss, also if the Acarus of Bossea is a little less specialized than the Bacardi's one. Both the species are actually in study thanks to the collaboration of the Swiss organisation "Arachnodata". (Real size of the body: 1÷2 mm).Other images:
